I like ancient epics. I bought the Orkneyinga Saga recently. I haven't started it
I did finish the Tain Bo Cuailnge recently. Ancient Irish epics are very different from other epics. I suppose it must come from not ever being officially a part of the Roman Empire. The Gallo-Roman influence just didn't reach it, so it's undilutedly pagan.

Well I read a really varied array of blokes to be fair, I just pop in the charity shop and find some olden goldies really.
If you're looking for a loooonnnggg book I just picked up the complete Lord of the Rings in one book, its the OP pic, just over 1000 pages all told. Other than that I'm a huge fan of Stephen King stuff, he writes really phenomenal stories that draw you right into them. Also if you like to read real world whacky stuff Hunter S Thompson does all sorts of good books, if you've ever seen Fear and Loathing I'd highly recommend the book, having watched that first then read the book it made me like the movie even more, its incredibly akin to the book with only two real variations.
Also, probably one of the best real story books I've read is Chicken Hawk, he was a Huey pilot in the Vietnam war, the book is deep as hell man and thoughout the book you slowly see him getting the symptoms of PTSD. Strongly recommended.

Well I'm not too sure how grippy you'll find it but I could hardly put it down. Perhaps not so much from being a tense book, though I'd say it gets very tense toward the end, but more so that he has a way of placing you into his books. He's very good at drawing his world in words I find.

I used to love reading but now I'm hard pressed to find fiction I can read through to completion. Very few writers seem to know what's interesting any more. All the classics are for the most part stale and antiquated.
I can't think of a creative writer to get excited about. Don Delillo recently came out with a new book, and that's about as close as I get to being eager to read a piece of fiction.

I do claims and pricing for a housing company. It's easy and keeps me busy. Sometimes I pick up slack from other places which is the only problem.
