Realistically how bad is a carbine gas system on a 16"? I know mid was meant for it but I'm just curious. I'm trying to do a budget rifle build and I'm not gonna turn down a carbine system if it comes up at a good price if the difference is negligible.

Realistically it's not really a problem. Depends on the manufacturer as well. People like colt make the gas port diameter the same on a 16" carbine gas as they do on a 14.5" carbine gas M4.

Carbine or mid-length gas will both be fine. As I understand it, mid-length is slightly softer shooting and gentler on parts so to speak, but really either is fine.
As for instructions, ask here, Google, manufacturers' websites, etc. If you go to Reddit their AR15 board is fairly helpful as well.

creep is travel after the 2nd stage. of which i have discovered there is NONE on the SSA-E that i have access to. no matter how i attempt to pull the trigger using 2 fingers, holding the gun in an unorthodox way, etc. i cannot make it creep after the 2nd stage break. its like as soon as you apply enough energy the hammer just drops. there's no travel before the break but after staging up to the "wall"

See the nut on the buffer tube with the ridges? That's a castle nut. Staking is when you push some of the metal from the receiver end plate into a notch against the castle nut. The idea is that this keeps prevents parts from loosening. As long as your shit is tightened down, it isn't exactly necessary.

yeah just pull up to the 2nd stage and then from there pay very close attention to how much more travel the trigger requires before the hammer drops. it's very difficult to do because it's a jarring kind of motion when you break the trigger. any travel leading up to the break but AFTER the 2nd stage stop is creep.

I just got a Geiselle SSA, its a rad trigger. I'll probably buy the SSA-e for my rifle with manified optics.
If you're willing to drop 150ish in a trigger, the SSA goes for around 200 or less if you shop around.

The SSA and the MBT usually fetch ~$125 when on sale. If I liked 2 stage triggers I'd pick up an MBT to compare, but as it is my SSA is in the parts bin just because I prefer 1 stage.

Theoretically yes, but afaik they only offered them to dealers ordering them in bulk. Most dealers just pick up a couple rifles for the shelves and count on distributors for the rest if they get a surge or for colors/models they don't keep on hand.
