Had some disappointing experience at the milsurp shop looking for an ALICE rucksack, and all the internet sources I've found have been sketchy at best.

http://www.amazon.com/Serbian-OD-Small-Rucksack-Used/dp/B0058CX048

Is this good to start removing kebab with? Or is it too small?

it's hard to fuck up a bucket sack. it is big enough for really basic stuff. you can put a rolled up wool blanket wraped in a tarp on the slings at the bottom and fill it with food vodka and ammo.

what went wrong at the surplus store?
>>
>>30118589
I don't feel a need for it, and I'll return my panel to an actual chest rig.
But I've reached a happy place with my gear.

They had ALICE packs, but they were pretty beat up, had names scrawled on them, and didn't come with the frames.

And to top it all off, they were no less than $75

Would y'all recommend multicam or coyote? Both blend quite well with the parts of south Texas I live in, so it's more just down to looks/preference.

Some advice just from my experience. Your taste in camo will probably change (I went from multicam to digi flora) so get the expensive gear (PCs, chest rigs, belts, etc.) in solid colors so you can wear them with whatever camo without camo mixing like a heretic. Wish I had gotten this rig in Ranger green, but I didn't think ahead last year and selling it wouldn't be worth it.

I've used the smith optics boogie regulators for quadding and simple shit, otherwise I just use glasses. Goggles tend to fog much quicker
>>
>>30118749

I did the same, pretty much. I was super stoked about my Multicam carrier. Was notified that only SWAT wears Multicam and they are identified in that way, so as a plainclothes fugitive team guy, I couldn't. I've been running a Mayflower APC in Ranger Green and have an LBT 6094 in Ranger Green on the way. Definately take the advice about getting solid color kit. I think it looks classier anyway.

On a side note, I convinced a buddy to get a Shellback Banshee to have something to throw on and make it easier than the Protech giant stupid soft vest we get issued that takes 10 min and 3 guys to put on. He bought an APC instead because Shellback now charges $224 for a Banshee. WT literal F? That was Shellback's niche! Cheap, pretty good USA made carriers. Now they are competing with Mayflower APCs, TAG Vanguards, and frankly, they lose...

I've held off on them until i can find ones that work really well. i heard that the boogie regulators fog up really bad when you aren't moving. i have shitty shooting glasses and them fogging up while i'm bench rested is the bane of my existence. I caught a piece of a 9mm round in the lips last time i was at the range tho. I was sitting on the other side of the range from the pistol lane and some guy was slamming steel and a piece of spall just found me at the right angle to embed it's self in my lips. so yeah goggles, let me know when you find ones you like.

>not building your own system from Raven Concealment and Blade tech parts
enjoy having hot mics all day and having AR mag pouches that only fit mags in one direction.

>>30119629
Depends on how much ammo and pouches you need. If you don't need to carry much more than a pistol, 2/3 pistol mags, and 2/3 long gun mags, a rigger's belt will be fine. Just attach kydex pouches. Advantages being that you can easily scale up and down by removing or adding additional pouches. If you really need to carry a lot, like IFAK + radio + other support gear, then a padded warbelt (suregrip is fine).

No big deal for individuals but it's still poor design. Could easily make them ambi like every other Kydex mag pouch on the market.

>>30119758

The HTC AR15 mag carriers only take the mag in one orientation, either bullets forward or bullets back. If they literally removed some material they could be ambi. My preferred mag carriers are Ready Tactical, like yours, or Blade Tech.

>>
>>30119838
Look at >>30119758's Ready Tactical pouches, you don't get much more minimalist than that. HTC knows they can charge some pretty ridiculous prices because of their DSS contract and the cool guy factor. Given the concerns I've heard about the holsters coming too tight and pushing guns out of battery, the hot mic situation, and the overall rigid design of the belt, I have a hard time justifying Raven Concealment prices (or more) for HTC stuff.

>>
>>30119316

That inflation tho. First came out at $149.00 then went to $169.00, now $224? Too many flaws and too many better options at that point. I've owned one. It was fantastic for $149 or even $169. But I would take the Mayflower APC for $220 before I took the Banshee. I would take a TAG Vanguard for $209 before the Banshee. I would take the old HSGI Weesatch/Wasatch at $220 over the Banshee. There are just too many systems with way fewer flaws at the same price now. The appeal of the Banshee was that it was an entry level but high quality US made carrier. A step above all the Condor kinda stuff. But it seems like Shellback got a little too excited when people started snatching them up and didn't realize that they were snatching them up because of the price:quality ratio as opposed to them having a godsend system.

It's a South African Pattern 83 rig. They're all over eBay. I bought mine for around $25 shipped about a year and a half ago. They're currently sitting at around $35.
>>
>>30121142
They are okay, the thin material and vents let you feel what youre touching. But the gloves have a serious downside:

>be in the cold
>vents in the gloves freeze hands off

>be taking a suppressor off
>vents in the gloves let it burn me

>be operating in bush
>vents in gloves start to rip because of things snagging

Basically if you do anything but airsoft/jerking it to these threads you will see the contact points of the gloves wear out quickly.

High-Abrasion Resistant masterrace. They'll get lost before they wear out. Only drawback: they come exclusively in the OG mechanix red flavor

I use one for camping/bushcraft. It's significantly smaller than an ALICE pack, infact it's designed to be able to use as a satchel/haversack by removing one strap and adjusting the other.

It's a great pack though. Only problem I had was with it was the fold out "sack". I thought it was for a water bottle or a jacket. Either way, it tore.

Other than that though, solid pack, I recommend it.

So I put on a fast-fit and an HAR for comparison (HAR on the left)

Couple of notes:
As you can see, the materials are very different. The fast-fit (which I assume is like an OG mechanix with elastic wrist closure instead of velcro) features a consistent suede type leather on the palm and fingers. The HAR has a 'clarino' on the fingers which is much smoother, and less stretchy. It feels marginally thicker, but actually moves with your fingers better. The suede tends to get stretched and baggy, especially with the lil suede hairs getting caught loading up mags. OG mechanix seem to get loose whereas the HAR actually break-in to fit your hand better

So today my landlord told me that a solider abandoned his apartment and asked if I wanted a plate carrier that was left behind.

Of course I said yes, so here it is. I think it might be a size too small because it feels really snug even after I adjusted it. Anyways, I was wondering if this US military gear. I can't really tell because all the tags in it have the words rubbed away from use. There is some number written in sharpie underneath the front velcro flaps if that is any indication that this plate carrier was once property of the military

Ideally, i want something that I can also use at the range for draw practice with some of my other pistols. I'm sure a 1911 and a USP would fit in the massive hole needed to house 10mm austrian brick. As long as the holster is not sealed at the muzzle area.

make it a high pressure popper shaped like a 5 hour energy with solid walls that screws into a fixed mount. with a circular trigger that comes off the right side of the thing and just up tot he trigger guard on the glock. so you reach your finger up and into the loop and pull back and that makes it pop and spray a charge. then you have the option of firing your weapon quickly or screwing it out and screwing a new popper in.

You mean like this? Too much of a pain in the ass to deal with. Even if you reverse the belt its still a pain. A belt is meant to be stationary, while your rig is supposed to move somewhat. The belt if attached can also pull down on your shoulders with slight movements over time adding to fatigue.

What do yall think of the HSGI taco mag pouches that have a pistol mag pouch stacked on a rifle mag pouch? I'm thinking about it for my battle belt. Using them independent (2 rifle and 2 pistol) takes up too much 'circumference' space, and I don't think I'd mind going outward just a little bit.

Well, thanks for the help. Based shaved head beard man.
>>
>>30130975
come back and let us know how what ever it is you bought works out.
>>
>>30130973
m81 woodland would be fine or just od multicam and coyote is to bright for the dirt color. from what i can tell by looking at pictures of the woods it gets really dark brown during the winter and fall.

>>30130993
Will do. I'll probably come back with some initial feelings on the quality, and then after I take it to a local 5 hour Milsim I'll make sure to talk about the quality when in simulated combat.

multicam tropic would probably be pretty good
>>
>>30131017
you could also get some meme camo like mulicam tropic that matches the greens but its gonna cost you extra and wont match anything when its not spring.

id go with woodland or some variant of a woodland pattern like dpm or mabye even a gorka suit in a neutral brown/green
>>
>>30131052
include marpat in the woodland variants
>>
>>30131052
would flecktarn or kryptek be good variants?
>>
>>30131188
are there trees with leaves that turn in that area? flecktarn kinda only makes sense if there are orange leaves in the area. kryptek is an over priced meme

Multicam tropic
>>
>>30131220
this is true, forgot about the orange/red on fleck. itd only be useful 3-4 months out of the year really. what about ATACS-FG?
>>
>>30131244
is it hard to find gear in this color? havent really seen much in any multicam other than the standard multicam.
>>
>>30131262
Perroz designs can make a carrier in it, Mayflower made a chest rig in it, same with haley strategic
honestly having every piece of gear matching isnt that important

thanks. yeah im still new to the gearfaggotry game, so im still learning as i go. i plan to get the plate carrier in coyote or ranger green.

speaking of which, do the sizes listed on gear manufacturers websites for plate carriers typically refer to the actual fit size, or what size plates they accept?

Hey Gear Queer,

I got a question for you. I have a SADF M83 chest rig for my AK74 but I am building an AR and realized that the M83 may not be ideal for the AR (mag pouches are too deep). So I was looking for a new system.

I have no illusions of being engaged in actual combat and there for do not see the point in a plate carrier. Chest rigs are nice but from my experience with the M83 I think I would prefer to have my mags on my belt. I also am starting to do some USPSA and 2 Gun Action shoots.

So TL:DR can I get some gun belt or waist Load bearing systems. I was thinking of running (lol buzzword) 2 AR mags and 1 or 2 pistol mags, water, maybe a roll up dump pouch, a blowout kit and maybe comms. Kay Thanks bye.

(pic is not me)

sdaf works just fine for m83 chest rigs. you can even carry 9 mags in it.
>>
What sort of set-up would be suitable for an SPR? I'm thinking of running a mix of 3-4 30s and a few 20s.
I also finally bought my first handgun so I'd need something that could support that off my right side.

Kryptek is cheaper then basic bitch woodland right now

i wouldn't pay for multimeme anyway. you don't need to justify your shit purchases to us. If you want to by kryptek then do it. but everyone is going to make fun of you.
