How do these FM12 Masks compare to M50s?

I realize it's probably going to be heavier, but how much?

before that did the basic shit of watching Magpul videos and getting tips from veterans at the range. nothing fancy

I've done the same. Pat makes some top tier videos and seems to really know his shit. I also took a carbine class with some buddies. It was basic stuff, reloading and transitioning drills, learning how to properly shoot while standing, kneeling, while leaning, and while prone. We did drawing drills as well. I want to do a more advanced course that goes over moving, how to shoot behind cover, that kind of thing, in the future. My buddies want to do one too so I'm slowly turning them into gear queers. I got my one buddy to start looking at chest rigs because he wants to go take a class.

I did wear it to a convention recently, ended up giving a class on how to apply a CAT for a bunch of cosplayers.

2" tape is damn near mandatory to stick down troublesome chest seals and is overall more useful over 1". Rolled 2/4" gauze is great for plugging a wound that can't be izzy'd and still can be removed by medics without leaving a surprise for surgeons.

Add angio needle for decomp and NP tube and lube for a compromised airway, but DO NOT use them if you have no idea how to use them. Have them on hand for people that know what the fuck they are doing.

Do not use clotting powders on wounds that are deeper than skin or a serious bleed, especially surplus gen 1 hemostatic agents because they can send clots to bad places or cause chemical burns. Stick to impregnated bandages.

Tie off bandages opposite the wound.

Fuck, that is a lot of blood shooting out of that leg/arm? TQ that shit a few inches above the wound. Write the fucking time on the TQ and "T:(time)" on the forehead for one, or high cheek for arm or low cheek for leg with multiple TQ on the same side as the TQ.

If you carry medshit greater than bainaids, tape, and gauze, better know CLS. Take a fucking class, it could mean life and limb. Now get out there and gear queer harder than a gay bodybuilder getting ready for a comp at fire island!

Quick question here regarding Gen 2 crye pants.

Why do they have the solid colored material surrounding the knee pads? Multicam pants, solid tan around the knees.
>>
>>30106063
If you have to get your stock as close to your face as possible to get a good cheek-weld, yeah.

It only really applies if you have a tiny-ass stock with no cheek support, like a Para.

How ya been?
>>
>>30106087

Because at the time there was no such thing as 4-way stretch Multicam material. Now there is, and the G3 combat pants have it.

Reminder that one of the founders of CTOMS brought TCCC to the Canadian Forces and through his actions has probably saved more lives than most who post here.
http://privatebloggins.ca/?p=439

He was the medic on site during the Tarnak Farm incident when an American Pilot dropped a 500lbs bomb on Canadian Soldiers. He was ill-equipped and ill-trained and was unable to save them, despite experience as a civilian EMT before deployment and having brought some of his own medical supplies overseas.

Relax there Mr macho. I only do 2 miles in my workout because I only do cardio for my first 30 minutes and that's about what I run in 30 minutes. Never said 2 moles was anything amazing lol. So calm down. And no I can safely say right there is probably some of the worst shape I've ever been in. Having a hernia makes you pretty inactive. I never claimed to be swoll as fuck in the first place so I don't know what you're so upset about. Are you jsut projecting about your tiny penis or something? Relax bro.
>>
>>30108123
The question is what do you think rowing actually gives you? Because if you think all cardio makes you equally capable of running a distance while carrying a load, you're wrong. If you need to repetitively pull an extremely light weight using your lats and legs over and over, I guess rowing is a great exercise for you.

I hope you realize these rowing machines were designed for people who actually row, because running, cycling, swimming, and other forms of cardio weren't close enough to the actual motions they needed to do. Why would you, someone who never needs to row anything, voluntarily choose to exercise with a motion you don't need, in order to get better at a motion you could have been doing instead?

I don't hate the concept2, but I definitely don't see much use for it outside of sport specific workouts.

>If you need to repetitively pull an extremely light weight using your lats and legs over and over, I guess rowing is a great exercise for you.
if you're only using our lats and legs you're rowing wrong. beyond that, its about resistance not simply pulling weight, much like boxers using weights during shadow boxing or weighted vests.
obviously you should still run but I'll do that on something easier like the trails/field rather than indoors.
>>
>>30108452
All kinds of arbitrary exercises can be made to work multiple muscle groups at once. Shooting a basketball requires multiple muscle groups, does that make it an effective fitness exercise? Swinging a golf club requires multiple muscle groups, maybe try that?

Or maybe try some indoors cardio that actually has relevance to moving under load, like lunges with a 45lb barbell.

Since we /fit/ now, I'll pipe up and say that legs and core form the basis of my routine. I've got a dedicated "legs day", but really that day is where I go for my high weight PRs and do a few extra machine things.

I do deadlifts, cleans, and snatches throughout the week. If you do low weight snatches or cleans with high reps, it's pretty good cardio. You can also get in cardio with rope swings, burpees and other body weight stuff.

But yeah, you can hit legs a lot. Just be safe and make sure your knees can take it. Don't run when you're training with your ruck- that's a big source of young guy injury.

And eat well. Of course. Have a plan. I personally have been bulking for a few months and am now doing a cut with low sugar/carb focus. MyFitPal is an easy tool to get back into the swing of reduced calories. And drink lots of water throughout all days .

Can I get recommendations for a chest rig for $40 or less (for use with AR). I was thinking about getting a type 56 rig, I figure if it was good enough for the gooks in nam, it's good enough for me.

Looking for a sling too, $20 or less, just for moving around with.

Type 56 works, but it's pretty deep so some pulltabs are recommended. You can fit 6 USGI mags or 3 pmags comfortably.

I highly suggest getting a plastic buckle for the backstrap so you don't have to tie it every time.

As for slings, I am in love with my VTACs, so I'd pony up a little bit to get them. My 5 year old VTAC is still going strong after a lot of punishment, so it's worth it.

Chicom type 56s are good

That was my original idea but if it is too tight I might go with the old duct tape and paracord pulls.

Well, even USGI mags are tight. Normal Pmags are so tight you can literally hold the whole rig up by the tab. So, way too tight IMO. GI mags with magpul tabs are likey to be nearly that tight.

For such a cheap rig, I'd personally just go with 3 mags in the vest and be happy.

Amazon works better because usually you can get cheap deals and build a custom kit with what you need instead of a overpriced premade kit.

Basic Kit should be up to the level of training you expect to be treated with, if you are having it for treating yourself or others with it, carry what you are trained and have used before. Don't carry something you don't know how to use or will be using for the first time. You will fuck up.

I'll order the type 56 tomorrow, for $20 I could do a lot worse. I might as well ask a few more questions while I am at it.

Should I even bother with a Angled or vertical foregrip at all? My AR is mostly for HD, and shft or whatever is less of a priority.

I plan on mounting a light as well, here is what I plan on getting, keep in mind I am a poorfag.

>Cheapo light.
I'll probably have to fiddle about to get it to work with the mount. I know you guys are going to say that I should get a real light, but I don't want to spend $50+on something that might never get used and takes expensive batteries. I don't plan on shooting with the light mounted unless it is HD. As long as it works long enough to get a positive ID, it should be ok.

http://www.amazon.com/UltraFire-SK68-300LM-Flashlight-Adjustable/dp/B00CU546JO?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

BTW, how much bigger than a standard handguard is a quad rail with covers? I got smallish hands so I don't want a huge handguard.

So I'm shopping around for some basic gear for my SMLE (best thing I have) and I've pretty much decided on an ammo belt kind of like pic related but with a bum bag and no bayonet.

The thing is, the surplus belts all have these tiny little first aid kits hanging off of them, and I'd really want a bit more than they had.
Problem is if it's hanging around like this a bigger kit would probably get annoying as hell really fast.

What do you guys recommend for an IFAK pouch?

>Are they both considered equivalent quality?

construction wise they are identical. I prefer the specific example of 81 that i have. i feel that time has been nicer to it and that the fabric they just happened to use that day is better then what they used on the 56. But they are really not any different and will both function the same.

Well but smersh has a ton of options and spare pouches making it pretty modular. Not even speaking about the molle smersh.

why are you arguing for smersh? we were just explaining why the sdaf rig is pretty neat and why its worth getting. there is nothing wrong with smersh. i'm going to buy a partisan rig at some point but it's really fucking expensive because of all the slavaboos who buy it up and because trade with russia is shit.

Not all the same poster. I'm the one who asked if he could run a mile and I meant it in all seriousness. Talking about tactics /training/gear is worthless if you're in such horrible shape that you'd be gasping for air during the entire firefight, or possibly pass out. The guy looks to be in absolutely horrible shape. Not just the bit of extra pounds , but the obvious lack of upper body strength. He should fix that , for his own good.

I went with http://www.amazon.com/Fire-Force-Point-Military-Shotgun/dp/B00PVMBM18?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

It's a decent sling.

Get one that isn't heavily used; they're worth the shekels, and pair it with a NICE frame and you're golden.

if you just want a cheap clip sling then that's fine. $10 isnt something to cry over even if it snaps in half as soon as you use it. it looks exactly like the alice canteen straps you can get for like a buck but made of nylon instead of canvas.

i have a magpul sling tho because im a faggot.

Like I stated earlier broseoh, I had a medical condition, which turned out to be a hernia of some sort that kept me out of the gym for a few months. Now my arms have always been rather twiggy i'll admit, even when I'm actually in shape they aren't huge. But that's not to say I'm incapable. I hiked rim to rim on the Grand Canyon over three days with a 40lb pack. No mules or any of that bullshit. Don't get me wrong, one of the toughest hikes I've done. At least on the third day. I am working on getting back into it. So chill out there bubba. I haven't seen a board so concerned about one another's bodies since /fit/. I mean I know the military in and of itself is a homoerotic experience but come on now guys. Can we get back to talking about gear? Go to /fit/ if you wanna talk workouts.

I'm pretty sure that, whether they know it or not, those of us who actually take our guns and rights seriously don;t want to be associated with people like pic related, so when you present yourself as someone who is a part of our culture it's kind of our "duty" to make sure you aren't giving the antigunners and SJWs any ammo of any kind. and being a tub of lard in tactical gear gives way to ridicule for everyone in the gun community.
ridicule > dehumanization > elimination

i have a molle hydro carrier and three strap hydro carriers but i don't want any of them attached to my pc because it's heavy and i cant wear a backpack of comfortable drive my truck.

i keep all my water in my rucksack or in my alice buttpack. if i needed a hydration carrier i would just put one on. i'm currently shopping around for a small assault pack that i will have a bladder or two in. maybe a flatpack.
>>
>>30113596
>I don't believe in anything. I'm just here for the violence.
That patch is awesome.
>>
>>30114895
I've tried the hydration pack directly attached to armor thing many times, and I've just never liked it. My dismounted loadout in the military was a 1qt canteen on my vest, some throwaway bottles in cargo pockets, and a Camelbak MULE pack on my back if I wasn't carrying a ruck (I carried a ruck more often than not though).

I prefer having a standalone hydration pack. It allows for carrying a ruck or jumping in a vehicle more easily. If you get a hydration pack with some pouches, it gives you some small item cargo capacity, which is nice. And for civvie/GQ purposes, the modularity is nice since you can have hydration without armor for hiking, or having armor but drop hydration on the range or whatnot.

Different milfags like:
>>30115187
may say different. And the reduction of straps is a valid counter-point, but attached hydration just isn't everybody's cup of Mountain Dew.
