▪ Senate Bill 1407, authored by Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León, would require anyone who assembles their own firearms to be licensed with the state and would prohibit the sale or transfer of those weapons. Brown vetoed a similar version.

▪ Senate Bill 1235, also by de León, writes a more explicit definition of ammunition. A law he previously championed to require in-person ammunition sales was thrown out in court for being too vague.

▪ Senate Bill 894, from Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson, D-Santa Barbara, would institute a five-day deadline for owners to report lost or stolen firearms. She said it would cut down on activity by “straw purchasers,” who illegally acquire guns for people prohibited from owning them and often falsely claim they were lost or stolen if the weapons are recovered after use in a crime.

▪ Senate Bill 880, co-authored by Sens. Isadore Hall, D-Compton, and Steve Glazer, D-Orinda, expands California’s 1989 ban on assault weapons to include semi-automatic rifles with ammunition magazines that can be easily detached with the press of a button. Brown vetoed a similar version.

▪ Senate Bill 1446, by Hancock, forbids the possession of high-capacity magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds. California outlawed their manufacture and sale in 1999, but grandfathered in weapons that residents already owned. Brown has vetoed similar language in the past, and Newsom has included a version in the proposed ballot measure.

Get your local officials to be on your side, this means:
1. Vote in a sheriff who is gun friendly and wont enforce unconstitutional state laws.
2. Vote in a DA who won't vigorously prosecute unconstitutional state laws.
3. Stop voting for California "Republicans" and vote for pro gun reps regardless of party.
4. Give money/time to CRPA, they are doing the job the NRA won't do in CA.
5. Anyone but Gavin Newsom, anyone.
6. Live the gun life openly and invite others to join you, don't take them to /k/ meets though, we want them to stay pro gun.

I lived there. Nothing... not one fucking thing in that entire state is worth preserving for any fucking reason. You should all be walled off and goddamned gassed. Half of the shit political problems this country has came from California. You... yes, fucking you, are the reason I worry about my constitutional right to bear arms being taken away. I hope that you and everyone you know dies screaming in a fucking fire.

>>29706941
I'm not sure what the AK Radlock is, but I do have alcohol so I'm ready for it. What is it?
>>
>>29706911
Rest assured no FFL I have ever been into in California will actually sell a "featureless" rifle. I built this one myself actually. Should Moonbeam sign the bullet button ban into law expect the manufacturers to switch to the Ar Mag lock to legally meet the definition of "disamebly of the firearm action" String a rubber band around the upper and lower and call it good. https://www.armaglock.com/

>>29706941
If bullet buttons get banned I don't know how anyone is going to sell anything other than an AR as far as standard rifles go without welding the mag or doing some insane bullshit. Not a big fan of that cheese grater mounting solution there but that looks pretty slick.

What we're going to end up with is a bunch of court cases that legally and shoddily define "disassembly of the action" on a case by case basis while the regular lawsuits get held up for the next decade trying to overturn this bullshit.

>>29706955
People have been convicted with less in this damn place IIRC. One thing I wanted to do is build an AR pistol with a Hammerhead or other non-pistol grip, no hand guard, and a bull barrel/welded muzzle with a regular mag release. Legal reasoning is DOJ had to specifically define "pistol grip" in previous cases (People V Hack and Hack). Since there is no "pistol grip" on the gun the magazine can't be outside of it, unless the DA want's to argue against Euclidean geometry, which I might actually pay to see if my life wasn't on the line.

I bought the truck (a shitty 98 ranger for 1200$) last sept thinking we were going to get tons of rain. If I had known that it would only rain as much as it had I would have just delt with getting wet. It has made range trips more enjoyable.
>>
>>29707006
Well good for you for not living in CA or have a RAW then. It's not like people want this shit on their guns.
>>
>>29707006
Basically it's a bullet button but for the ak. In my VEPR's case it's a shroud that sits over the mag release paddle. In order to release the mag you have to basically use something like a carkey or something similar, stick it vertically up into the shroud and pull back to engage the paddle so the mag can be dropped. that way it fits the definition of a "tool to remove the magazine" crap we have to put up with.

Definitely going to go with >>29706971
recommended. At least that you can insert a bullet/key sideways like a bullet button.
>>
>>29707018
Agreed, I fully expect the propositions to pass and then remain in limbo while they get fought in the courts. Then again, considering these bills even get the fuck out of committee, i'm not exactly hopeful. Really fucking hope that bullet button bill gets vetoed though. :(

>>29707027
Truf, and the way maniacs drive down here, I'd imagine you feel a helluva lot safer inside a truck than on a bike.
>>
>>29707018
Find the court case where someone got convicted. As long as you're not an asshat at a range, shooting on someone elses property, shooting on anything other than a gun range, nobody gives a fuck whats on your rifle.
>>
>>29707027
sorry, Phone.
>>
>>29707060
Yeah you'll probably get off on the technicality, it's more the assraping process you'll have to go through between the courts and eventually getting your gun back.

Fuck we technically have an ordinance now on the books in LA county that if a cop stops you and finds a grandfathered hi-cap mag in your possession, they can confiscate due to it being a "nuisance" and there's nothing you can do to get it back.
>>
>>29707032
I use a tool on a key reel to keep the maglock from being too hard a damper. It works quick enough.
I have a video up on YouTube under "AK Reload Tool"
>>
>>29707101
gun range officers don't call police if they see someone violating AWB. The way people get punished is police take your rifle saying it violates AWB, then you get to spend $20k in lawyer fees proving it doesn't.

As far as calguns has outlined, the only cases where legal trouble came into play with their AR is when they were being a moron, and/or the cop didn't know the laws.
>>
>>29707122
Agreed with this Anon.
As long as you keep to yourself, you should be alright. Don't go blasting 3 round bursts or obvious illegal shit and you'll be alright.

>>
>>29707147
Again, calguns has a guide for morons like you. When you go to and from the range, don't speed, use your signal, don't give cops a reason to look up your ass for problems.

People at the range will not give a single fuck if you show up with a 40 round pmag and a 8 inch barrel AR with a sigbrace on your shoulder.

"keep to yourself" means don't raise attention from the wrong people. Gun range people generally aren't the wrong people. Nobody at the range will look at your AR and dial kikestein alerting the authorities about your magazine or stock.

I don't mind turners, but IVE is better for PPT. Their selection is usually pretty shit with normal for cali prices. But they're cool about offering a few free range sessions with a purchase of a gun, even if the sales guys know very little about the guns.

I usually look on calguns for sales, and if I'm buying from someone in Santa Barbara, I'm not going to ask them to drive 30+ mins to meet me at turners or IVE.
>>
>>29707449
I totally forgot to actually put my point in my reply. Even if I didn't have a RAW I wouldn't get a neutered AR. I'd rather have a non-fucked M1A than a fucked off AR.... Personal opinion. It just doesn't make sense to me to get a gun where it's own point has been removed.
>>
>>29707538

I think IVE is for mall ninjas, they overprice everything because muh tatical fags will pay more money for it. The range at Paradise is much better and cheaper, too. I have good PPT deals with another local FFL so I can see why you like them for that reason.

There's also a gun show next weekend at the Ventura Fairgrounds that I'm saving up for.

IVE does cater a little more for mall ninjas, but in reality those are the guys that are fine with paying for ZEV accessories for their glock, which brings decent profits.

Shooters paradise is full of fuds and assholes. Theres a thread on calguns confirming that too, and people cancelling range memberships because SP only lets you shoot their overpriced ammo which is usually hollowpoints.

First experience there I asked some questions about buying a gun, and the guy said if I didn't know what I wanted I was at the wrong store and walked away to help someone else. Fuck those guys. I'm never going back.

I've been to the ventura gun show twice, and after seeing the insane prices, $15 for parking and entry, kids running around loose, BZZZZT, and womens craft stands, I'll never need to go back.

Anyone been to deliverance or angeles shooting ranges? Im trying to see how far my AR build can touch accuratly and obviously trying to check out my skills. I heard they have 600 yrd lanes im wondering if its worth it or any expirences with them in general.
>>
>>29708835
I can vouch for Angeles. It's a wonderful range. The main rifle range goes out to 600 or 700 yards I believe with plenty of concrete benches to set up your rifles. You can drive right up to the bench to drop off your gear and then park fairly easily.

Range fee on the weekends I believe is 25$ plus 8$ for a target frame if you don't bring your own but you get it back fi you don't damage it. Line breaks are fast and the staff aren't dicks.

Only negative thing is that it gets really damn crowded on weekends, but that's every range. I prefer them to Burro Canyon despite living next to the Burro range.
>>
>>29706778
Doesn't the foregrip remove the featureless part?
>>
>>29708845
Main thing though to make sure your visit to angeles goes smoothly. Make sure to fill out the waiver form before you do anything. They have a stack of them right outside the shooting office and then you bring it inside and pay. It will save you a lot of hassle of reaching the front of the line and then having to go back out and fill out a form and get back in line.
>>
>>29708854
According to ATF and CADOJ AFG isn't a vertical grip.

What I do want confirmation on is if I could mount a true VFG horizontally off my rail. ATF might get me an FTB letter, but DOJ nor any of the DAs in CA will rule on the legality of anything unless they are trying to prosecute you.

Last time I went a deer went on the rifle range around the 300 yard line, and eventually we got tired of ceasefire and the RSOs were saying to shoot like 200 yards.

And there was belt fed crew .50 bmg m2 that was semi on the range that day lol. Love to see what that do to a deer.

hey guys, moving to the bay area for work in a few months. What tips do you have for someone moving into the area? Would it be cheaper to buy a compliant gun right now while I live in a free state and transfer it in? Or should I wait till I arrive to buy a compliant rifle?

Additionally, how is ammo availability for 7.62x39 versus .223? Right now most places sell the basic range shit for under $6 a box.

A job offer, and I was more or less a Bloombergpilled nogunz at the time. One of my major dicking around at work activities these days is looking at land for sale in Utah/Arizona.
>>
>>29712136
All semiauto rifles have to have 10 round mags (or pinned 30) and a bullet button no matter what. Same goes with handguns on the mags. You can't bring them in or register them otherwise.

If your job is temporary then don't bother registering them. If it's long term then you have only a few days to register them.
>>
>>29712136
Also buy a bunch of off roster handguns before you move (10 round mag limit only) and sell them all for 200% profit when you get here.
>>
>>29712136
My advice to you would be to buy as many handguns as you can afford. New gen4 glocks are selling for $800, P239's are easily $1000, basically anything that isn't a revolver can sell for 20%-80% markup.

You'll pay for your move and still make a profit. Go to calguns and look in the for sale section, look up common handguns and you'll see the insane prices, and they always sell for more than MSRP, even used.
>>
>>29712369

Honestly, going to calguns to do research is giving solid help. That info is reviewed and often published by 2A attorneys who are willing to defend that information.

Telling him false information because you're a dumbass and don't know any better isn't giving help. CA gun laws are vague, ambiguous and often confusing, in your original post, you were wrong on all issues.

supposedly you can sell 5 and not get looked at at all. selling 6 doesn't magically make some ATF guys pop out and arrest you but if you were to get caught and had sold 12 or something like that they'd hit you with something
>>
>>29712505
In the eyes of the ATF, yes if you intend on buying and selling solely for profit. However, if you buy a bunch of handguns, and later sell them without the original intent of selling them for profit, then no you're not breaking any law. ATF would be very hard pressed to prove this if you buy a minimal amount. This amount has never been defined, however individuals have been known to do this with dozens of guns per year and not be prosecuted.
>>
>>29712369

>>
>>29700816

>>
>>29712412

>>
>>29712351
I hear they're going ahead with the new rifle range construction. Then again, i also heard there was membership infighting about it that got it delayed a lot?
>>
>>29712555
Ammo isn't an issue; several in state places sell 1k cases of reloads, advertised on the internet. You can also buy ammo from anywhere in the country and have it shipped here, except for LA City and a couple counties up north. Normal ammo "restrictions" still apply, unless you're buying well over 20k rounds at one time or regularly, nobody cares.

There isn't really a market for people to buy normal capacity mags out of state and driving them in; they wouldn't be able to sell them. I'm sure they buy them out of state and use them for personal use or stash them away for reasons.
>>
>>29712563
if you want to make free money yes
more importantly he should be buying any gun he might thing he wants because getting it after you're in california amounts to jumping through flaming hoops
>>
>>29708751
310 here too. I've been holding off getting anything bigger than 7.62x39 just because there's basically no where to go that allows bigger calibers.

So far I've been going to LAX range and Sharpshooters. Pity Sharpshooters don't allow anything beyond pistol calibers and maybe 12 gauge.
>>
>>29712563
Every time I've done a face to face transfer, they basically don't care where the gun came from, they only photocopy the seller's ID, and produce him a bill of sale (transfer). There is not background check on the gun even to see if it was ever FFL'd to the original owner.

Its just not necessary or an actual worry to think about "registering" them to yourself before selling.
>>
>>29712586
Well if Newsum's inititive on background checks for ammo gets all 600,000 signatures by June and gets voted yes on the ballot, ammo prices are gonna go up and online vendors will most likely ship to FFL or not at all.

Yeah it makes sense. Hopefully you can see why I am a little uneasy about the whole process. I've been eyeing a P320 so I suppose Ill just buy that for myself now and sell it before I leave. Just gotta find 10 round mags.
>>
>>29712711
10 round mags aren't that hard to find on brownells or midway, they're typically the same price, so if you wish to sell it, include at least one. If you intend on keeping normal capacity mags for personal use, just keep them to yourself and refrain from doing 17 round mag dumps at the range. use common sense and be conservative about what you have.

Pistol mags are nice because they don't have the extended size sticking out the bottom of the gun.

it has to go thru an ffl if you are a cali resident

its legal for non residents to buy longguns out of state but they have to follow the laws of the buyers state

even if you drove to Nevada(note most shops bordering ca will tell you to fuck off when you show your license) and bought a rifle in a store it would have to be mailed to a ffl in ca before you can take possession

you could do a private transfer between 2 people but you are breaking some law with a minimal chance of getting caught

Out of state FFLs don't like to ship to CA, even if it's through an FFL, becuase even if something is legal, most FFLs don't want to be in CA's seller database (California Firearms Licensing Check). It costs nothing to them though, just some paperwork. I guess they don't want to be trackable by CA or something.

If you can't convince an FFL to get a CFLC, the best way to go about it is to go through a 3rd party FFL. The only one that comes to mind is a guy on calguns called audiophil2, but there are a few that does something like that.

You can have any pistol you want

As far as rifles, anything you want so long as it complies with the AWB flowchart. For ARs, anything you want with 10 rds and a bullet button. No AWB features means you can use a regular mag release and previously owned "high cap" magazines.

Go to calguns, theres a flowchart and a literal wealth of knowledge there.

>>29716209
incredibly so
you wouldn't be able to buy anything new if it's too scary
if you want anything remotely scary, better buy it before the bill kicks in
anything that would be legal because of a magazine lock will no longer be legal if you don't have it already

pretty much my whole paycheck for the rest of the year is going to firearms
>>
>>29716209
yeah, the bills have a 50/50 chance of passing, but its still panic inducing causing people to buy like no tomorrow before all 10 round semi auto guns get turned into assault weapons. people say brown will veto them as he's done before, but other say brown may let some pass, and the guy after brown will fully endorse them. In CA, theres always going to be a "buy now" mentality because of the impending doom, which for the last 10 years has proven true.

Me personally, I have over 1000 rounds, 2 ARs, and a couple pistols, and want to move out of state, so I'm not really concerned. But in reality, I'm not going to get gouged because of potential legal bullshit.
>>
>>29716451
The only good thing (and it's not even good) about CA bills is that since the rest of the country is not facing them (minus any presidential election based panic) the prices won't be high outside of the state and you can just have guns sent to your ffl
>>
>>29714287
Hence the "" around balanced.
>>
>>29716481
except most FFLs in CA are either tired of losing sales or need to pay overhead. Local place charges $100 for FFL transfers because they need to call the selling FFL, make sure they have proper paperwork for CA, fax it all over, send gun, verify, then sell. So its adding easily $100 to a gun from a huge online seller.
>>
>>29716657
I do my transfer at a antique shop/ffl and they charge me 65 bucks no tax.
>>
>>29717294
There was a kitchen table FFL that I use to transfer at 65 for first, 10 per extra. Doesn't collect tax and doesn't charge for mag blocks (He "blocks" them pretty good).

He got shut down for some reason. Probably has something to do with doing SSEs without actually converting them or not collecting tax.
>>
>>29717294
gz, on finding some old dude with an FFL license that is totally cool with trying to transfer guns at a minimal fee. The new bills are trying to shut those types of people down.
>>
>>29716657
it's still going to be less than retard mode prices post-sandy hook. my local FFL charges $60 which is still pretty lame but better than paying the shop $200 more for something when I could still come out on top buying out of state
>>
>>29714868
A lot of it stems from being afraid of the constantly shifting atmosphere in California. I think a lot of FFLs would prefer to not need to pay attention to the new bullshit laws that get worse every year here. Easier to not pay attention and not do business with the state rather than risk sending something illegal into California and risking legal trouble. I personally hate it when I can't get perfectly legal shit sent to me in California, but I can't fault the decision to not want to deal with this shithole's laws.

Can vouch for audiophil2, I got my mark 23 through him and he even took care of the mags and barrel for me to bring it in during the last Single-Shot exemption craze at the end of 2014.

Depends on what you want to do with it. Want to experiment with long range shooting or just messing around? If it's your first you can't go wrong with PSA uppers. Most of the time you can find them on sale for less than 500 bucks for a solid one. Other than Rock River Arms sells good ones. I guess it really depends on your budget. What dosh do you have to play with?

If you have a CCW, you are legally allowed to CC on federal land. HOWEVER, YOU WILL COMMIT A FELONY IF YOU ENTER A GOVERNMENT BUILDING WHILE CCing. THIS INCLUDES RANGER STATIONS AND RESTROOMS.

It was a way for dealers to sell off-roster guns pre-2015. If a pistol was blocked to be single-shot, it was exempt from the roster requirements. The exemption was removed though, and replaced with a much narrower one

Handguns that can only fire one shot at a time and had a barrel over... 10? inches were exempt from needing to be on the handgun roster to be sold by a CA FFL. So to get guns not on the list a shop would install a mag block and a longer barrel, sell the gun to the buyer, and after all the paperwork was done the buyer was legally free to put the gun back into the original configuration.
