>>
>>

Take pics. As long as it works other than the jamming in the rear. Do you have to have the bolt carrier all the way back? A simple solution, although it will look like cancer, is one of those rubber/plastic buffers.

no popping off and out of receiver.

having the carrier all the way back and the recoil spring 100% compressed. it would just stick and stay there.

theres also odd wear marks on the gas piston in certain spots.

also the dove tail is kinda fucked.

i was planning on sell it but if this work i'll have to thank you

Yup. Pretty much any AK. Just make sure you don't put it on backwards and you'll be fine. Also yeah some of the dovetails have a tendency to peen, which is a bit of a heat treating issue. Also post pics f.a.m.

Just a heads up, if you're planning on using the stock pouch with the triangle folder in your pic, it won't work well. The Tula folders are rolled in on the edges and the pouch doesn't nestle like you'll want it to. It'll work just not very well.

They work but they're not well made or designed for how much they cost.

Yes, the Tula ones are the only ones that will really give you outright problems trying to use them.

M76 and the lower combed, more traditional (to Yugos, not AKMs) profile M70 stocks can be found quite easily on forums.

Two Rivers Arms had M70 sets on their parts page but it seems like their site is all fucked up now.

I personally went with a Manticore triangle, stormwerkz hinge, and Krebs mounting block for my OPAP.

I saw that one, some posters on BARFcom were saying they work, some people said you can convert East German 5.56 mags or Norincos. If I had access to a 3d printer and a scanner would that work? Or would the resin be too sensitive to heat?
>>
I was wondering if there are different kinds of grip bushings? in my parts kit, it came with a rectangular t shaped bushing, but the receiver i bought (fixed stock) has a larger square hole, so while the width is correct, the length on the bushing is short and the grip moves back and forth slightly no matter how tight i make it..
>>
>>30339699
No clue about 3d printing, but I'd imagine it wouldn't hold up to spring tension on the feed lips when loaded.

Are Valmet mags that unobtainium?

This is one of those things that requires a consistent thread starter. We had one for /arg/ for awhile and it worked pretty well, but after he dropped off we started getting autists starting it, forgetting to format or number it, and constant repeats of editions like "optics edition" or "muzzle device edition".

It's cool if you can get someone to do it, but it usually ends in spectacular failure.

Yep, you're officially Slav as fuck. That being said, if you're going for a gear rating it's hard to tell when you can't identify the plates, PC, vest, or mag carriers. I'll give it a solid YourPCIsProbably1SizeTooSmall/10.

>>30340452
Probably because most people who buy plate carriers don't understand the idea of protecting vital organs rather than protecting everything while standing and nullifying all other positions.

hey, thanks for your input.

It's a Tasmanian Tiger MK II PC with standard SK04 plates.

The battle belt is also from Tasmanian Tiger. The pouches are HSGI Tacos.

Operational Supervisor at UPS. I walk on average 10 miles during my 5 1/2 hour workday, much of which is up and down stairs and ladders. There's also a lot of heavy package lifting involved toward the end of the night when trucks are pulling and the heavier packages need to be placed on the trailer, which is something that there are rarely enough union workers to do so they enlist supervisor help.

>>30341150
I know I've heard of the Tasmanian Tiger company, but I can't remember whether or not the connotation was good or bad. By SK-04 do you mean "level 4" as in ceramic plates? Honestly I'm probably entry level at gear-queer-ery and all this shit sounds like Greek to me.

Haley Strategic chest rig is supposed to be pretty good, but personally I don't buy into the whole detachable chest rig thing. The idea of MOLLE is being able to set up a plate carrier how you want to, whereas a detachable chest rig is like "here faggot this is how I like it now you must like it this way too".

Anyway, probably enough /gqg/ crossover for one thread. Any reason you went with a triangle side folder for the AK? They look nice, but in reality the poly side folder is far superior as a stock.

yeah, lvl 4 creramic plates is correct. The TT company does good stuff with a good reputation in the german armes forces. But since these lvl4 ceramic plates are only in 10x12 inches it seems a bit small on me. Nontheless all my vitals ar covered, so thats good enough for me.

To the haley stuff.....i just like this setup and it seems to be practical. So i think i will go with it.

To my AK:
It was delivered like this. Sure, i could change the triangle to a poly folder. But it would be not worth the cost tbqh. The triangle is totally comfortable with the RD-pouch. And cheekweld is also good enough because of the ultimak + Aimpoint combo.

All in all i really like this rifle.
>>
>>30341218
the point of the removable chest rig is so you can quickly go slick if you need to (carrier only) or if you are doing something that doesn't require hard armor you can just take the rig

Vitals are all that need to be covered. If I remember correcly the plate is supposed to run from the bottom of your clavicle to the diaphragm and everything else can fuck itself. From side to side I believe it's just nipple to nipple in terms of how wide it should be.

If you like the Haley, you like it. Personally I'm not a fan. It looks nice (not a huge fan of the grip but even though the side folder is far from the best option it's not bad). Would be awesome if such rifles were available in the US.

>>30341300
Don't get me wrong I understand the idea behind it, but the idea of "going slick" is a pretty dumb one if you ask me. I've got a JPC and I can tell you now that there's no situation in which you could conceal it while wearing it, and that's for a plate carrier that's SUPPOSED to be tiny. If the situation doesn't require a plate carrier, then I'd say just get a proper chest rig and use that. Hell, the DC3R is probably a great chest rig, but overall the idea of a detachable chest rig is a bit of a gimmick, in my opinion.

Been doing it almost all by myself since the beginning of /akg/.
>I posted the first "official" /akg/, truth be told (not that anyone believes that)
>Pretty sure it was the "War Rug Edition" that was the first but that was so long and many bottles of bourbon ago.

But I'm not about to start numbering them, as there's been threads that are gone from the archive from the initiation of /akg/ so I have no idea what number were on.

>constant repeats of editions
Something I try not to do, but over 200+ threads there hasn't been a "duplicate" edition that I've done, yet.
>Although I'm starting to run out of ideas for new and original editions

There are other that try to keep /akg/ going when I can't which I appreciate, but it's infrequent.

I did not know (or remember?) that bowtie was calling me a ripoff artist. That's pretty funny.

I'm starting to have a hard time remembering /k/ before the general threads even though it hasn't been that long. I think I remember it starting as the "eternal AK thread" and people started to get angry and say that consecutive threads lowers post quality. Some people hate the generals but I don't mind.

Going to help a buddy choose mid-range ak soon. I'm an ar guy so don't know what to look for in terms of inspecting an ak.
I get the canted sights thing and how to test for it, but as far as >>30338714 says how much mag wobble is acceptable? And anything in particular to look out for in the receiver? I would guess make sure the action looks right and keep an eye out for unusual wear marks, but anything beyond that?
