Would it be possible for the mods to expand the number of flags you see on /pol/, /sp/, and /int/? Could we get U.S. state flags maybe? Or even flags for other regions? Or customizable flags, like a Confederate flag? Is it possible to map one's IP address to stuff like Navajo Nation? That'd be cool as fuck.

It's really interesting what's happening with wireless technology in North Korea. Over the past 3 years, the number of illegal foreign cellphones within the country went from around 50,000 to 250,000, making communication with China and South Korea easier. The expansion of wireless technology is the beginning of the end of the information barrier and the "hermit kingdom" status of North Korea since it expands what North Koreans know about the outside world. From what I've read in the news, North Korea is growing increasingly unstable and tensions are arising between Kim Jong-un and other top officials.
The way I see it, North Korea has to increase transparency and connectivity with the world in order to survive. If they want to improve the lives of their citizens to prevent revolt, the ideal way to do that would be to increase revenue and lower their military budget (something tells me not all NK officials want to be as aggressive as the country is now). If they allowed more tourism, it would create a stream of money which could be used to support the country and keep the regime up. Otherwise, unless they lower their military budget and start supporting people, I see wireless technology as the catalyst which will result in the eventual downfall of the country.

I believe flags originally began as a concept on /pol/, where you could set your flag to things like communist, nazi, USA, etc. Eventually that got ditched and flags became based on country.
The current flags used in /int/, /pol/, and /sp/ were apparently made by some company named famfamfam (f a m, not senpai).
If you're talking about the regionals, they're made by a dedicated group of autists who reside in this very thread - /flag/tism. We have an extension and we add the flags to a github. You should get regionals and collect, they're fun.

If a flag is that of a Turkish region it will be shown as "Sakarya Province" or "Ankara Province"; "Ankara" is just the city.
Kazakhstan doesn't have province flags
