Word order is more important than vocab. once you have the absolute generic basics, by my estimation. Maybe my vocab. list should have included "be" and "do", as well, but nothing more is strictly necessary. Particles, complex grammar, multiple clause sentences, etc., sure, learn them later by immersion, but if you can't even construct the most basic sentence, you won't be able to communicate.

Basically you can use both 旅行する or 旅行に行く

If you want to emphasize your desire, 行きたいis more suitable than 行く, but 行く also works.
