Hello foreighnfag!

Let's take a trip to the magcal world of Toki Pona!

toki pona is a minimalist conlang with a vocabulary of around 120 words and roughly a dozen of grammar rules. It takes about an hour to start swearing and about a week to start swearing well in toki pona.

ITT, let's see if it is useable as a pidgin (one of the reasons it was invented for), excercise in semantical deconstruction (that's another reason) and translate boardspeak in toki pona!

Lessons: http://tokipona.net/tp/janpije/okamasona.php or https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Updated_jan_Pije%27s_lessons
Word list: http://tokipona.net/tp/ClassicWordList.aspx

http://sitelen-pona.herokuapp.com/

By popular request, all the rest of conlangs can be discussed here (although our conlang mastermind is asleep at the moment).

Mi ne jam decidis. Mi antaŭ faris videojn en Esperanto, sed me ni ege volas krei anglingvan videon. Mi afiŝis sur mian kronologion facebookan pri ĝi kaj jam sentas tre aŭtisma. Mi ete volas fari ĝin precipe ĉar mi estas ina...kaj esti ina en Esperantujo kiu povas bone paroli ŝajnas esti varbilo. Mi ne scias. Kiel mi diris mi ne tre volas paroli anglingve en filmeto.

>>52178912
I pretty much only use it online to chat with people for fun. But if I ever travelled to another country I would get in contact with any Esperanto speakers there beforehand and it's like 80% certain they would let me stay at their house or give me a tour of their city and help me out. I think I would also try that while travelling in the US because pic related. But really I have only actually contacted people in my own state because I'm not a big traveller, even though I want to be.

I'm not sure why it's only Americans all over the *chans who speak it, but if you go into normie Esperanto forums the dominant nationality is Brazilian. I think people who come from large countries that generally speak only one language are attracted to it as a hobby because they don't actually need to study a different language and can do it just for fun.

Here is a chart of users from edukado.net which is a network of Esperanto teachers. Most are from France apparently, then Brazil, then US, then Hungary.

I really don't understand why a language has to have that much tenses, OK, you want 12 tenses or what have you, why keep them all coordinated? It was a short action while you were doing something in the past for a long time and it matters now and it's possible, you're not just speculating about it, oh fuck!

I guess for English speakers the whole declension thing makes no sense, too.
>>
>>52196226
Declension and such make sense to me but it's a shit ton to memorize and would take me a fuck load of brain processing to analyze all the situational peculiarities that could fuck over a sentence.
Irregularities also kill me but without them a language looks and sounds bland. Such is the pain of a prospective language student

Well it seems to be a rip of Finnish TV show. Man, I've been to Ladoga lake this summer, it's just amazing. It's incredible, it's pure beauty.

As for Esperanto, it's very simple and regular. All nouns end in o. All adjectives end in a (this drives me mad though, I expect noun and adjective to be 'rhymed' in a way). The roots are mostly Romance. Learn corelatives and you can read it no problems.
>>
>>52198814
Thats still not very much. Tolkien and star trek fans can do these same things with quenya/sindar and klingon.
Esperanto seems to be only for people who really like linguistics or don't like the status of english languages as the language of science and commerce.

That's just the result of frantic searches through the dictionary. The grammar isn't that hard, though I still don't know of a non-clumsy way to do predicate connectives. I tried to actually learn the language a year or two ago but switched to Lojban after the community (3 strong) died.

Reading through half of the string of you two disagreeing with each other was tiresome so I'm just gonna sahre this silly comic and also say that Esperanto is spoken in every country and part of the Esperanto "culture" is to welcome/invite random people from other countries to stay with you for Esperanto speaking and cultural exchange, which is probably what the American guy was trying to say

Now that Esperanto is 100+ years old and has enough speakers to be the size of one of the smaller national languages, plus some native speakers, its proponents have entered a major phase of bugghurt, like a preteen phase where nobody takes you seriously and you have little relevance but you feel grown up.
