Romania used to be a 90% agricultural county before mass industrialization by gommies and even then Ceausescu has left it majorly agricultural because he wanted to pay the war debnts by selling food.
And uhh, I honestly don't think it is because most of the people from my home village are still free farmers and own their own plots of land. Like, driving on the main road out of Bucharest all the fields around it are most likely owned by farmers. I remember that my mom used to know what fields belonged to who whenever we went to visit relatives.
