I also found an awesome Alphons Mucha book in the library, aside from the regular illustrations it has a ton of sketches. There's one problem tho, it's really big and I don't have a scanner that big. I never read any of the How to Draw manga series. I do have them all on my hard drive (since I was seeding that Mega Art Book Compilation torrent) though.
The book itself is really analytical. There are a few step by step process but there author pretty much covered each step with a nice explanation. There's a lot of anatomy notes and breakdown of the bird's parts in planes in perspective going on. He also covers the forms a lot. I would not recommend it to absolute beginners before they have a good mastery of construction, figure drawing and perspective before starting this book. I'm onto Prokopenko's figure drawing course right now and I find it to be a good complement of that skill level.
All in all it's a great book, well worth the 35$ I spent on it. I won't go through it now because it is very in depth and will be a potential slow read.

Well depends on what you want to draw. In general you need to learn construction and perspective and if you want to do humans then also proportions and anatomy. Loomis is good, Succesful drawing is good general book and it focuses on drawing people. How to draw by scott robertson focuses more on cars and mechs and such.

If you want to train your eye more on perspective, you can always grab "How to Draw Cars the Hot Wheels Way" by Scott Robertson after you finish How to Draw.
Thing is, it sounds gay doing the LOL LEARN HOW TO DRAW TOY CARS but that isn't the point of the book. The construction is well done and you can use those same techniques on... well everything. People, buildings, even organic landscapes. It's like how some people have trouble drawing faces, so they quit anatomy for like 3 months, do only landscape work, come back, and their faces are 10 times better.
