Post em now.
Rules:
-Do not rate or give critiques unless if the artist specifically requests it.
-If someone is RUDE tell them to not expect much from an hour's work.
-Posting WIP's, studies, "doodles", and random sketches are highly encouraged.
-The art must be fresh. Like you just drew it in the past hour.
I drew this around hour ago,

by swinging it, blunt one one side sharp on the other. holding on to the bent part at the back allows for more powerful swings, but now that i think about it, that would only work with the edged side.

You're art style is how I would love to draw. Self-taught or did you learn through books and/or courses?
MUH SHINKAWA
Weak day.
>>2321820
Thanks. :) You can do it, it just takes practice.
No formal art training or education. I learnt mostly through practice, observation, trial and error and a few books.
I'd definitely recommend to everyone reading up on perspective, anatomy, construction etc... but I personally think it's much more valuable to learn how to see and train your eye, than just technically how to draw.
I get much more out of looking at the work of other artists and trying to figure out for myself how they were made. Why they made the marks they did, how the paint is layered etc... and then incorporating those ideas into my own stuff.
Also spending lots of time looking at photography and getting an idea of how to break things down into simplified forms, shapes/patterns etc...
>>2321817
it works pretty well for me. only thing is yoy need to move a bit slower so it the flow doesnt stop. if it does scribble on a different part of your sketchbook until it works again

2 hours roughly clocked i think, critique much appreciated
Sorry i color picked
>>2321958
I'm assuming the left side is a reference piece that you are working off digitally on the right.
Good rendering, but bad underlying drawing.
Little blunt but not trying to be insulting. The distances between features are accurate, but things like the curve/angle of the jaw, forehead slope, length and angle of nose is off, eyebrow arch is too softly curved and not sharp enough an angle, left cheek also bulges out too much.
Basically, your main issues seem to be angles here. Just make sure all your preliminary line-work/measurements are exact before laying down color. That seems to what I noticed straight away.
Colors seem fine, obviously much more simplified given the time worked on. If you want to get a closer replication to the original, note that there is an underlying wash of orange under-painting over the canvas that is being allowed to show through in a lot of places. Try also painting a little more transparently yourself, and letting the underlying layers show through.
Hope that helps some.

I can give you some general suggestions. Practice drawing girls from a ¾ view, both nude and with underwear on. I suggest underwear as well because her panties and bra thing seem to be out of perspective and fairly formless.
She doesn't read as a moth, too, and I blame the fluff. Look at this picture. Notice how said fluff is mostly concentrated near the head, neck, and "torso" area, almost like a mane? Now notice how there's little to none around the leg/"arm" area. I know that the moth princess chibi thing has little blobs of fluff on her arms, like armbands/bracelets, but there's no rule that says a person needs to follow the chibi reference perfectly. Also, notice how the fluff on the real moth has very little variation in value? It has a blotch of extremely light orangey-yellow when it's near the body, but that's about it. There shouldn't be long streaks of darker values. On the same note, the fluff grows outwards, not in one straight direction like you have it.
I think you can get across the idea that she is a very soft and cute moth girl if you observe real moths and how the stuff on them works. Feel free to add your own personal touches, of course.
>>2322466
Oh, and mind the antennae. You can get a really convincing moth girl if you make nice antennae.

Ooooh! thank you for the feedback!
Yeah i deff see what you mean with the not reading as a moth. I really just got ideas from various moth girls i saw but maybe i shoulda just did my own interpretation from the real subject matter.
Again thank you for the feed back and ima get to work on drawing that 3/4 view. Anything in particular i should be particularly aware of?
Nothing to impressive but critique is appreciated.

This was a doodle that attempted to capture the style of Mattias Adolfsson. It is admittedly based upon one of his own doodles, though I was not viewing it directly at the time I drew it. I do however constantly see it around, as it is on the cover of one of my favorite albums.

Use references, only draw what you see, don't try to draw things that aren't visually measurable in your reference
You've got broken perspective bad proportions, symbol drawing. Fix all of these by grinding from reference once you've studied some more. Really study those facial proportions. Learn how to properly measure references as well for accurate drawing.
26 hours is barely any practice in the grand scheme of things, don't burn yourself out in a single session, you won't learn anything and you'll lose motivation. If you want to practice for a long time, that's fine, but it's more important to be practicing every single day consistently than to have one ridiculous session you can't mentally digest.

i love saitama's face.
>>2323408
You analyze the picture and try to learn from it.
Say you're studying faces, you would lay in the general shapes, building your head construction, constantly measuring with your pencil, using plumb lines, checking angles, etc. Practice a good method of construction like Loomis or Hampton to help you place the features accurately.
You should get lots of practice rendering simple 3D shapes like spheres, cubes, and cylinders, because you can use those to build the mass of anything you're drawing.
You really need to have a grasp on your fundamentals, form, construction, value, perspective. During your drawing, you're practicing applying these concepts, gaining experience with the form of the subject matter and building your ability to apply the knowledge you've learned.
Say you've never studied faces before, the first time you do an accurate, measured study, you're going to realize that the face is made up of many forms you don't have an immediate working knowledge of. The cylindrical protrusion of the dental area, the structure around the eyes, angle of the jaw, the way parts connect to one another, etc. You do hundreds, thousands of these studies, becoming intimately familiar with all the subtleties of the subject matter, building you ability to accurately draw and render them with depth.
The goal is in no way to copy things mindlessly. You're learning the fundamental skills of drawing, and then trying to apply those to a subject you want to study. Of course, you're not always trying to learn how to draw something as thoroughly as this, this is just a complex example, you can do other studies where you just practice accurate drawing and rendering with whatever subject matter. This is usually what's done in the beginner threads, where everyone will try to do an accurate drawing/rendering of an animal, a car, a face, etc. posted in the OP, just to build those basic measuring, rendering, and dexterity skills.
>>2323405

>>2323460
The only thing better in the right one is the guitar. It's funny, the left shows a little more awareness of the volume and space a body takes up while the guitar's drawn like a paper cut out, and the right body is drawn like a paper cutout but the guitar has form. I swear the one on the right looks like Medusa from Soul Eater to me, too.

is it worth it to just keep drawing shitty sketches until you're happy with your anatomy or do you just keep drawing fully finished portraits etc.

>>2323637
I think it's best to go back and forth between sketchy doodles and studies. If you study too much, you become reliant on using reference. If you just draw from the imagination all the time, you may have trouble improving your drafting and your drawings will be uninformed so they'll not only look wonky they'll probably lack interesting detail.
Shit and giggles

Well the perspective on his arm is all fucked up. Even if it is as exaggerated angle he's too far away to justify his arm being that big. I would say maybe change the angle of the shot to be behind his back and much closer so that you can go for a more believable exaggeration. Overall though you need a lot more practice learning anatomy and perspective if you want to draw good action scenes.

It's because the hair and the face feel like two different parts! That's the problem with doing them separately. If you look, the skin underneath the bangs has no cast shadow from the hair, and the side of the face has no reflected light. Once you unify them more, It should start to come together.
