Why even update? Have you ever noticed a windows update have any beneficial effect on your computing experience?

Just turn them off.
>>
>>53568328
I remembered it to be longer.
Anyway, thanks a lot.

Not OP, but I think I actually do, somewhere. I'm on Windows 10 right now but it's pissing the shit outta me, so I'm going back to Windows 7 soon enough.

>>53568328
>>53568501
These two will probably help me to make W7 usable again (since M$ pours all their effort to do the opposite). Thanks.
>>
>>53568501
Have any of these ever been in important updates?

That's a terrible argument btw

How's the Enterprise edition of Windows 7? I doubt it gets those popups

are there any preferably non-proprietary software to completely remove these Win7 "updates" and makes sure that they don't reinstall themselves?
>>
>>53568656
Yeah, new exploits. As opposed to the 7 year old ones. Which ones are more likely to get exploited, I wonder.

If you're worrying about software licenses you shouldn't use windows at all.

Seriously, you're putting so much effort into debotnetting windows that you look stupid. Just don't use it. Don't give microsoft the pleasure.
Microsoft cares about the bottom line. If it sees people like you switching from windows they'll change their attitude.
I say 'people like you' because you likely have a good reason to stay with windows. Software, ease of use, laziness, but are made uncomfortable by how it treats you like a baby that needs monitoring.
>>
>>53568745
None, if you are not a retarded shit who runs porn.avi.exe.
>>
>>53568816
>If it sees people like you switching from windows they'll change their attitude.

>Their OS is used by probably nearing one billion people, yet they care about me

Windows isn't going to die or change it's way from user feedback, Windows 10 is pretty much evidence of that
>>
>>53568745

the ones with the largest number of clients
now you guess

>KB2670838
List is alright except for KB2670838, it's a fucking platform update that I'd consider essential for performance. Plus I never had any blurry fonts or display corruption because of it.
>>
>>53568896
That's why I said 'people like you'.
That's millions of people.

Switch.

Reminder that if you constantly need to keep track of which updates you need to remove, or which settings you need to change, there's something fundamentally wrong with your OS.

These lists of updates and/or settings keep changing over time, which means that the lists you find here (or anywhere else) are no guarantee to block all telemetry. It's definitely no guarantee to block further telemetry after new updates. Mind you that disabling updates altogether is no solution either, because you'd miss out on important security updates.

You guys should either accept an inescapable amount of telemetry, or learn to accept it wholeheartedly. That, or move to a different OS family entirely.
