Assuming it's CCFL backlit the backlights are getting real old and you should probably start looking at new monitors. They dim over time.
That said they can still last forever while having that dim orangey look

Lots of monitors have preset "reading mode" "night mode" etc. that changes the screen colours. Check through the built in menu and see.
