I've been using GIMP thanks to /g/'s advice, but I'm a little confused since adding lighting effects.
Pic shows some really annoying streaks that I have no idea how to get rid of. What's this effect called? Is there a way to make it not so shit?

ok op i want to learn something too.
What effect are you using to achieve this?
Also is it possible that you set a bad colour profile/it have set itself automatically?
Just follow the green pepper, it'll tell you the way

Simply put a blur layer over it.

This works, I learned it from a Photoshop tutorial though. So it's not GIMP only.

it was an issue with photoshop too untill PS 8.

It has to do with any signal. It's not specific to any software or even technology.

GREEN IS MY PEPPER

You meme spouting idiots are really annoying. The "Green Is My Pepper" shit suddenly resurfaces just because the /fglt/ referenced it in its OP image?
Either shut up and fuck off, or use your brain to make substantive comments instead of parroting memes like a mindless child.

I have no idea what you are doing. But if you are using the blend tool to create a color gradient, this should not happen. Pic related (made with GIMP).

And here a short demonstration in how GIMP actually prevents this effect.
