I had assumed it already was. They already scan emails for terms and track what websites you look at and what products you look at. Why would them looking at your browser use with their browser be anything new at all?

Bwahahahahaha you really think that makes a difference? It's like thinking facebook don't track you if you don't have a facebook account, hopelessly naive.

Sure. Just link me the source code for Google Chrome.

How, I don't have a Facebook account and have uMatrix setup to block everything from 3rd parties?

I work at an ad tech company.

We already track you on everything. Cookieless devices, everything.

We can make very educated guesses that you are the same person on two different devices. We follow you to work, we follow you home.

Dont think google and microsoft and apple are the botnet.
The internet is the botnet.

w-what if I adblock?

Yes you're very special anon. In fact the way you're blocking things is probably being combined with the information they can get on you to get just as complete an image as they otherwise would have.

How prevalent is fingerprinting?
Recent studies suggest only 5% of websites use canvas fingerprinting, but that number feels low
>>
>>55625310
Depends on if the site cares. Most sites dont care, but some sites host feeder code to gather info on users that then marks them in a category a publisher might pay a premium for.

Youre tracked on more than just the sites playing ads. Other sites make money simply by telling people about your interest in said site.
>>
Why are advertisements I block being relevant to my interests a bad thing?
>>
>>55624782
It's still not net, believe me. Look at Inox and see how much shit is disabled. I use Chrome and I like it, I don't have time for the privacy meme. Data is collected, I'm fine with it, the services are great. Also I am not a pedophile. I'm not concerned.

What do you get out of tracking users with adblock enabled?

Genuinely curious. Do you still sell their personal data, or are those users just a waste of space since they don't see your ads either way?

But... but, muh botnet!
>>
>>55626076
He's just baiting man, there's a reason canvas fingerprinting never took off. The people it would be used on aren't profitable and the rest of the people can be effectively and more cheaply tracked via cookies and JS.

Who said the ads have to be truthful? You do know that companies regularly pay for fake reviews on Amazon and other places to try to manipulate people's opinions. Are you okay with buying shit that won't last or won't work as well as other products because the company that you're buying from paid advertisers to tell people their products are good?

Depends on what you're referring to.
You're probably harder to track via fingerprinting on windows since windows is so common.
On the other hand you have back doors that probably send your browsing history to Microsoft, so that's worse.
>>
>>55626722
>check your dom storage for some google zombie cookie
I'll try that. I've been keeping dom storage turned off a lot recently but I think it might have been on at that time.

>and block everything google related on 4chan unless it doesn't let the noscript captcha load
Already have been doing that. My general habits with uMatrix include blocking absolutely everything that isn't necessary for what I want to do.

>>55626742
IP is an almost meaningless way of tracking compared to other methods as they get passed around randomly in an area.

>>55626867
It really doesn't matter, they can still track what you're doing by looking at what you're accessing.
The only way to counteract this would be to flood basically the entire net with false requests at the same time as you're making actual requests so they don't know for sure what you're looking at, but that's really not feasible.
