When are we gonna have 128x processors at home? 64x is already old as fuck and too slow.

when energy cost is nothing. which is never after all people are being charged more for using solar energy in las vegas. Why because they dont pull their own wieght

you seriously cannot be this retarded... this is a troll right?

When will we get BRM processors? ARM is slow as fuck
>>
>>55612296
given we haven't even maxed out 64 bit processes and the power is not low enough to make 128bit processes the only reason we don't have them at home is because they cost 4k US each.

also 128bit processors have shitty compute low hertz yields for gaming it would be pointless until power yields get better and higher hertz

We are not going to see them for a few years yet.
bit just like 16bit to 32bit , it will happen some time, just not sure when so you have to wait for that.

I don't think you do ether so STFU.

you realise all programs would have to be rewritten for the new architecture's speed to be utilised, right?

x128

you have no idea what the difference between 32bit and 64bit is do you?

16 Exabytes is the limit of RAM until we need x128. the primary reason for switching to x86_64 from x86 was the 32GB memory limit of 4GB. Applications until very recently (chrome wasn't 64 bit until 2014).

so essentially you're a cunt

now that was pretty damn good

>32GB memory limit of 4GB
oops
*4GB limit of 32bit
>>
Might as well skip to 1024bit processor.
And while we at that, use software rendering as a GPU replacement.

>More is always better
>I'm literally a neet that hasn't studied computer science much less computer engineering much less the epitome (depending on the school) electrical engineering!

>Go to intro to digital systems
>First day learn about MIPS and Pentium architectures existence
>Day two, learn about the study of information and how 64 is too many technically and something like 43 bits is optimal
>Remove self from meme mindset that differences between the likes of Mac and Windows and Linux fucking mean anything and that they are just an intermediary between the hardware and myself.
>Lead satisfied life being productive not margin about minutia details about GPUs, consumer CPUs, and ram sticks with only slightly faster speeds.

This is the secret anon. Go study electrical or computer engineering and learn the truth. Lead a satisfying life. Be well. Here's your red pill. Enjoy.

128x as in number of embarrassingly parallel cores without much interconnect? You can get GPUs with ten times that in terms of shader pipelines, and that has already proven invaluable in fields such as cryptology, various simulations, NNs, etc. There will be an AMD "Zen" Opteron CPU available with 32 cores/64 threads/2 dies next year, if you want to build a home server (how it will perform relative to its nearest Xeon competitors is open to question right now, we'll see when it comes out).

128x as in, 128-bit? RISC-V has a full 128-bit ISA defined, if you want a memory model that wide, because it is thinking ahead to when you might want that, maybe some flat architecture with a L1/L2/L3/RAM/X-Point/Flash type hierarchy for near-instant poweron? Internally? Various SIMD pathways (MMX, SSE, AVX, NEON) on mainstream CPUs already extensively use 128-bit and 256-bit ALUs, with 512-bit ALUs available in a few which haven't hit the mainstream segment yet.
