This Pokemon Go craze is a scary prospect of the sheep mentality of technology. Am I wrong for thinking this? I'm seeing people mobilized like crazy simply for virtual pets.
>>
>>55609674
wow ur such a visionary
>>
Yeah it just came out retard it'll die down
>>
>>55609674
Good, real pets often live in misery. Who is that disgusting semen serpent?
>>
>>55609674
The funniest part is that it is affiliated with Google. And your location has to always be on. Google hit GOLD with these normies. Data collection paradise!

I think Google controls the whole world at this point

I'm just amazed how shit the gameplay is

The pokemon just stand there inanimately, then you throw a ball.

And this is popular?

all those pokeman go players giving their data to chinese botnet
>>
>tfw want to play it
>tfw don't want to be max tracked
>Tfw turn location on for moments every so often to play it

also op it's just an IRL MMO that has a bunch of people in their 20s feeling nostalgic and kids love pokemon ofc it was gonna be like this.

It'll die down soon though since the "game" is essentially pointless

>can't battle random people you meet in the street

honestly that was the only reason to ever make this game and they didn't do that

ps a lot of normies have location on and like to know where they've been it's nuts
>>
>>55609747
If you dumb it down enough, people will come. Example: iPhone.
>>
>>55609674
pretty good distraction from all the horseshit that's been happening, dallas, turkey, france...

Pokemon go was developed by a corporation that willingly help intelligence agencies of the west.

A way to bypass the inability of such agencies
>>

Yes it is literally CIA
>>
>>55610145
>>55610180
>>>infowars
>>
>>55610198

Assuming everyone who is speculative of this is a Alex Jones flunky
>>
I don't mind helping the CIA develop a deeper understanding of the movement habits of our citizens. It will only lead to them being better able to protect us.
>>
>>55610270

You give a government as much power as we have been over the years in the name of "Protection" and you will eventually have a tyrant police state.

It's bad enough we've already got laws that turn our country into a dictator ship in the event of a "National Emergency". I'd rather not have agencies passively collecting information without cause or suspicion just because it "will protect us".
>>
>>55610122
from what i hear there is no battling
>>
>>55610331
I'm playing it now and while it's a nice spin on traditional Pokemon, they should definitely let you battle wild Pokemon and train your team and battle other trainers so it'll be more like Pokemon irl
>>
>>55610353
They already said that their licenses on mobile is strictly for getting players to buy the games on their platform. So it would be counterproductive to give the app more gameplay.
>>
>>55610383
Why not sell the game on Android?

I'd pay up to 4 or 5 dollars for this shit if they included these features
>>
>>55610353
lmao why did you make your avatar a nigger
>>
>>55610411

Does PoKeMon Go even have a multiplayer element?
>>

>>

>>
>>55610477

The primary purpose of the game is not to make money, it's a data collection app, which just so happens to print money
>>
>>55610486
I'm pretty sure it'll be more like 100:1

Also I doubt the Android app would kill console sales much, but it would increase profit a lot from all the fans on Android and iPhone buying it

So wait, is this game really just walking around and hitting a button when you see a pokemon, so you can add it to your collection? There's no actual gameplay involved? No battles? What the fuck. Why would anyone care about this. This is too autistic for normies.
>>
>>55610856

4chan analysts, everybody
people are going out in groups and collecting pokemon together, it's gamifying walking around together and meeting people, which already gives a dopamine boost
>>
>>55609820
kill yourself, nigger.
>>
>>55610895
You're right in a way. But as someone who doesn't really like social interaction, I can think of so many reasons to go outside that are better than this. I could understand how it's a draw when I thought it was an actual game, but not this.
>>
>>55610924
Coffee shops, tourist attractions and libraries and stuff are already pokepoints, so people are going to libraries, coffee shops, and businesses together with friends.
Businesses are literally buying lures to lure groups of people to their stores to play in groups and buy stuff and it's working, McDonald's has already landed a deal for sponsored pokestops with i'm assuming legendary pokemon

it's fucking horrifying but as a social event it's probably decent fun
>>

>shitskin

>>
>>55609737
Apple and Google both tried to buy Greece but were denied, so now it's time to take over countries sneakybeakylike.
>>
>>55610895
There is no social aspect. You underageb& like to delude yourself, saying that pressing an upvote button on the post of someone you've never heard of, you'll never see face-to-face, and you'll never know, is "socializing". You kids have no clue what that word means.

Know what's NOT socializing? Playing with your phone at a family dinner. Checking facebook every 5 seconds while on a date. Playing pokemon go while at work. Keeping up with the latest tweets while on break.
>>
>>55610924
I don't know if you ever heard of or played Ingress, but the main point of the game is taking control of Pokemon Gyms, which used to be Ingress Points. You level up your pokemon, evolve them, collect them as usual, and travel to a gym and battle a gym leader, and if you win your team takes control of the gym on the map

i'm not actually sure how it works in gameplay as i'm in canada and not bothering with sideloading

>>55610987
You're aware this game is GPS based and you must literally show up in person to play, correct

spare me the "born in le wrong generation" spiel, faggot.
>>
>people are having fun doing things
>must be a botnet
>>
>>55609747
I played it for about 30 minutes.

It's a blatant cash-in on the Pokemon brand and nostalgia. People have such fond memories of Pokemon because of the trading and battling aspects. Pokemon GO has neither.

It's really disappointing, because the game concept has so much potential. Instead, this will probably just die out in a month or two.
>>
>>55610843
Found this via google: https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongodev/
>>
>>55610331
You can battle gym leaders who will inevitably be 100x stronger than you, and no real way to improve your own strength apart from tedious low level pokemon trade
>>
>>55611032
They're adding trading in an update, and more features to come

They know how to keep people playing, i just hope the initial trend dies off and it leads to a more sustained playerbase of less crowds of retards
>>
>>55611013
Yeah, like those social events I make with friends. And we show up in person to have dinner. And they spend half the time or more on their phone.

For me the nostalgia has always been in catching em all. In the show there are even people who don't fight, just train. It's def a shitty cheap cash in of the ip, but it's exploiting the collecting of Pokemon, which has always been the franchise's corporate tag line and it works.
>>
>>55612441
>buying shares in Google, Niantic and the pokemon company
are you stupid? niantic and the pokemon company aren't public
niantic is no longer a part of Google, so buying Google won't make you money

only if you bought Nintendo a month ago would you have made money.
>>
>>55609674
It would be perfect if:

>No Google affiliation
>Made by Nintendo/GF/TPC
>Traditional battles/trading
>Organized regional gyms w/actual people as leaders.
>Tie in to Sun|Moon
>You can send your 'mon to Sun and Moon vice versa when they come out.

I loved playing pokemon and running all over my suburbs/the woods as a kid. If Pokemon go was out and integrated like that, my friends and I would be missing for days at a time during the summer.

>>
>>55610257
You'd have to be an Alex Jones flunky to be this retarded

The baseband firmware on all cellphones is already compromised, why the fuck would the CIA ever need to make a game to collect data?
>>
This isn't just data mining. They're doing trials for e-government platforms.

>an app tells customers /voters where to go
>they're giving s badge/cookie for their efforts
>people feel good about it
>all pokemon go users are middle class young adults willing to work for free
>this feels too much like election day, where shops give you free stuff if you show you voted that day

What I'm more suspicious about is that the company allows for some space for other small businesses to benefit from the hordes of users. On my city (which isn't even in a country where the app has been officially released) even a supermarket is trying to profit from this, promising a "big surprise" for the users, using a generic red and white ball in the ad.

This isn't pokemon, this is advertising. People gathering pulls in advertisers, which in turn pulls more people, which in turn pulls in more advertising until it reaches critical mass, then people move to the next big thing, which is inspired in a way with the Last trend.

During the process a bunch of people wasted a shit load of money, yes, but even more people worked their asses for FREE with no actual reward except their egos aren't crushed by loneliness and lack of meaning or so they believe.

It is an erosion of rights and civil liberties before it is anything else. I support (and even encourage) voluntary data collection methods such as surveys since they are within the user's control to consent or refuse. Creating a country where nobody gets to choose if they want to close the door in the name of science is shortsighted and backfires in more ways than it helps, except for the government and the world's largest digital corporations.

It doesn't respect your freedoms, but neither does android or ios.

Bitching about a mobile game that will die out in a few more months as if that's the primary concern is fucking retarded when everybody is up and buying the latest samshit and ishit because it's new is like bitching somebody put paprika on your turd sandwich.

Let the people have their fucking fun, jesus.
