I'm thinking about getting an Android... Is there any way to customize it like you can customize a vanilla Debian build? Like, I want to be able to choose what is shown on the home screen. I want a password that is really just me touching the top of the screen, followed by the bottom, followed by the left, followed by the right of the screen. I want to make a fake "glitch" effect when my phone is locked like in shitty movies about idealized hackers. Would I be able to get this level of customization on an Android?

KLWP. I set the pull-up menu and the icons/music widget to scroll in reaction to a global variable. I set the middle of my dock to toggle the variable that controls the icons and music, and the small rectangle at the bottom to toggle the one that controls the pull-up menu
