Can any one suggest on how to optimize windows 8.1 performance and improve privacy?
How much of a botnet is windows 8.1 and do performance altering updates really exist?

A few days ago I connected an gamepad I bought at an flea market and windows informed me that my location has been accessed. Is it possible for an controller to contain software that could have made such a request?
Besides disabling telemetry is there something else I can do?

Controller probably just turned on an existing service in your computer. I don't screw around with windows 8 very much but it's very googleable. And things like location have their own universal settings
