For an AMDrone gpu? Pretty much any tempurature t b h

typically a cpu running about 90+C would considered hot. I think anything too far above that would get a little dangerous for your system.

currently running linux mint and my cpu barely gets above 30C so

Don't listen to those niggers, you can get away with running a chip, be it a GPU or CPU even at 120C, it will only suffer damage when run like that for long periods, but it's safe to say that anything over 100C is actually overheating.

Laptop processors: Anything above 82.2C/180F

Desktop processors: Anything above 71.1/160F

Exceeding these temperatures up to the Tjunction won't immediately kill your processor but it will reduce the lifespan significantly.
>>
>90C for desktop

Anything above 90 C is overheat territory.

Depends on the system. A cube of iron not under kinetic stress can handle 1200 Kelvin no problem.
>>
If it shuts off, it's overheating.

that's wrong, my laptop processor idles at about 78 and in gaming goes up all the way to 90 and so far absolutely nothing noticeable in any way has happened, my GPU goes even to 95 or so when i'm using ENB or some shit.

Did you even read his entire post?

yeah but i stay in vidya for hours, sometimes i can't even be bothered to close it so i just pause it and go to sleep, i used to do that for weeks, and still nothing, i had this laptop for three years now

Desktop C2D turned off when exceeded 100°C...

In this age of GPUs getting double the performance as GPUs from five years ago, we forget pretty quickly but most of the time we dispose of electronics before their lifespan is through. Also some electronics are more sturdy built than others.

Frankly, I do have to wonder if bothering to get the maximum lifespan out of your computers is even worth it, since even with misuse you'll probably replace the abused part before it dies, anyway.

Yeah i hear you, i have a policy that things are made to be used, not cared for, but that's just my 2 cents.
