1. What is considered a good black depth for an LCD display? Is 0.35 cd/m2 good?

2. What is considered a good contrast ratio for an LCD display? Is 800:1 good?
>>
>>55585524
those are fine, and you should only really care about those specs if you read measurements from independent reviewers, because e.g. a contrast ratio of 3000:1 is most likely a "dynamic" contrast ratio, so that at any given time the contrast might actually be 800:1 but the monitor changes in brightness to emphasize bright/dark scenes in movies and games

I fucked up my debian jessie intall by installing something because my graphic drivers weren't working (integrated skylake graphic card) and now OpenGL doesn't work. I've tried a lot of things and I've been stuck for a week, so I'm going to reinstall but I don't want to copy over my data. Is it possible to make a new partition and intall the new OS there and then delete the old one without harming the data?

Why is acceptable in 2016 for notepad.exe to be the sole application that can block a Windows shutdown/restart, and the OS cannot shut it down without human input?

I have been trying to setup a multi boot with Windows 10, several versions Debian 8.5 and a few generic data partitions. I have tried everything I can think of and read many an article on similar matters which claim it is the simplest of matters. Once I have taken a good nap, I plan to update the computer's BIOS and try again to see if that was the problem. I not asking for help at this point as this mess has gotten very complex and many are questioning why I want to bother with my setup as other simpler setups work without issue. I am just ask for something, don't know what, prayer, feels, serenity, something. Anyone relate?

My uni computers have 20Mbps speed contrary to my fodder 512Kbps so I reconed I could use it for torrenting games, movies.

Is it possible? Yes. Will the Debian installer successfully do it? Hopefully!
I honestly prefer Arch/Gentoo's installation method because there's no automatic installer that can fuck up. The user is in complete control of partitioning.
Anyways, you should make a backup of your important stuff first just to be safe.

Alright, you have 2 primary partitions. One (sda1) is for / and the other (sda5) is for swap.

You need to shrink your sda1 partition, and then install Debian to the newly-created empty space. Just tell the installer to use sda5 for swap.

After installation, you'll have / on sda3, swap on sda5, and an unmounted sda1 partition containing your old installation. So you can just mount sda1 to /mnt and copy whatever you need.

I don't have a particular flash player, but there is a form of flash player on my laptop (windows 8) because when I search 'flash' I find a return named "flash player options" which allows me to put some flash settings.

It wouldn't help with local traffic or protecting your devices from in-network hacking. Compromised wifi is not an ideal situation. But assuming that your connection has a cutoff so you don't keep transmitting when the vpn is cut you should be good. They could still probably figure out what websites you were visiting and what kind of stuff you were downloading if they were determined enough, but nobody short of an isp usually has that kind of power, and an isp usually wont bother

Still unable to connect. I believe the problem is the internet light on the router being yellow and the computer not recognizing the router. I've also had it for over 2 years with no problems but it just stopped working after I reset it today. I've googled my problem and I see alot of the same issues with other people who've had it for 2+ years, they just bought a new one. Some say the router support group couldn't help either. Maybe the router has just gone to shit and it's time for a new one.

My question is, how do I get contacts? How do I prove people that they need me, and should pay me to test their networks? It's not like I can "hack in" out of blue and then tell them that their network is not secure.

If you say it's a common problem, it could just be the router is dead. It really should have responded to something by now if the cable isn't dammaged. Routers are cheap, might as well upgrade.

You can try a 30-30-30 reset. Have the computer's wifi off, only connect lan to PC. Hold reset button for a minute and a half. 30 seconds plugged in, 30 unpluged, 30 plugged in. Then try logging in again

Some copiers are better than others. The drives could have fragmented files making the transfer inefficient, small files are sometimes harder to backup than large ones. I've been changing my MAC address in windows by going to the properties of my LAN and changing the value through the network address there.

This is always (and should be) a temporary change until I click "not present" or reinstall windows or whatever

However recently my computer froze on log on and I had to hard shut down my computer and restart upon loading windows my temporary mac address had somehow become my permanent MAC address.

I reinstalled windows to see what would happen - same as my last temporary MAC address still

This means it has changed the (eeprom?) or whatever at the hardware level which I'm 100% sure isn't supposed to happen unless you go real far out of your way to do

Anyone have any idea why this has happened?
