Red pill me on charging

Should I really charge a new battery to 100% / overnight before using it?
>>
>>55572897
No, that just kills the battery sooner..
>>
>>55572897
You should dip it in cum for 24h before charging and discharging it five times during full moon.
>>
>>55572897
depends on the battery.
>>
1.battery is most stressed when its full and when its empty
2. battery really really hate high temperatures, though most people think mistakenly that low temps are problematic because of how cars have hard time starting in -20 weather
3. more re-charge cycles = smaller capacity, means dead battery sooner, if you charge daily, as oppose to every other day. So bigger battery not only last longer, but dies slower

thats about it

Sure, here's your red pill. Please take as soon as possible...

What happens when the battery is usually at 100%? I have a laptop and it's usually in the same place so I have it plugged in 90% of the time.
>>
>>55573087
Take the battery out if you can.
>>
>>55573087
Not that anon but, it will heat up due to the heat from the laptop and degrade its performance over time. If you're going to have a laptop plugged in 90% of the time, the best is to charge the battery at like 80% and then disconnect it and use the laptop without the battery (albeit that defeats the purpose of a laptop)

the battery is at its maximu cappacity and is bit stressed about it
the anode or cathode dont know which, holds all the possible charge it can but the electrons are not allowed to discharge to the other electrode

So they might start leaking over time as the shit is packed to the maximum
and next time you wont get as much electron in there so your battery losses bit of cappacity. But the rate of losing it should slow down over time

I made all this up, based on my understanding of the battery, but I would not be surprised if I am correct

Modern batteries (made in the last 5 years) don't have "charge memory" and software is calibrated enough to give proper readings without having to do "calibration".
Ideally you want to charge your battery anytime you can because when it empties, it empties some cells one after the other and it wears the cell off because chemistry. The worst you can do for your battery longevity is emptying your phone to 0% everytime.
You can't really keep it from wearing off anyway but you can decrease it by having it fully charged anytime you can (so only one cell wears off and not the others).

Lithium based batteries are best stored above 10 and under 50% charged and in a cool environment.
>>
>>55573087
Just take it out and put it away.

what is it?

Do quick chargers wreck the battery faster?

Because I've had a droid turbo for about a year and 6-7 months and I used to get like 6.5-7 hours of SOT and now I get like 4 maybe
>>
>>55574704
Yes, because they cause the battery to get much hotter and the #1 battery killer is heat.
>>
>>55574798
Well that would explain it. I'm planning getting a new phone soon so I'll be more careful and use a regular charger for that one
>>
>>55573430
>made in the last 5 years

Pretty sure it's been that way, at least in most consumer electronics, for longer than that.
>>
>>55574853
My turbo hit 122° the other day while charging.
Seriously, what the fuck.

Mine feels pretty similar to that sometimes

One of the reasons why I'm sidegrading to the nexus 6
>>
>>55572897
For longest battery life you want to hover around 75-80% at all times.
>>
>>55573430
wow you are amazingly retarded

lithium-ion batteries last longest with charges between 40% and 80%. This differs a bit between different battery types and manufacturers and ofcourse you want 100% to last longest that day. Just don't let your battery run for long on low charge.

If you want to store a lithium-ion battery it's best to do that at about 40%.
>>
so do you guys not charge your phone over night? so you can wake up to a fresh 100% battery?
