Every test i've looked at has it as very negligible if anything at all.

Is the 970 perfectly fine for 1080p gaming? The 1070 would be overkill right? Looking at this at the moment.

It would be "fine." 1070 is for 144hz monitors and 1440p, really.

But could I play stuff like witcher 3 for example

I heard that less and less games are supporting multi GPUs.
