Why are people still getting cucked by apple? how do they not fucking notice?

For that you could build a fucking workstation out of server parts and destroy absolutely everything in terms of performance.

No

I'm pretty sure the majority of their sales come from college students who thing student loans = free money so they go ahead and take as much as they can and waste it on stuff like Macs, iPhone and Beats.
The other huge percent of sales come from dumb americans that think credit cards = free money

Can confirm. You can basically get a used Supermicro 12 core system with 48 GB of RAM for about 200$ if you look out for a good deal

Just add like five more SSDs, it'll be cheaper than the mac anyway.

I was almost worried the new Macbooks would beat my PC I bought a few months ago either performance-wise or dollar-per-performance-wise

Guess I chose wisely to not wait on them after all. This rig was only $1549

It's one of those "luggable" boat anchors so there's plenty of space for effective cooling.

I really don't see much of a point on those things if I'm honest... They suck ass as laptops and they can't really hold a candle to an equally expensive desktop ether.
>>
>>55562689
Not that guy but I bought an old workstation for $400. 16 thread 8 c at 2.6ghz, 16gb ram, obviously a compatible mobo and a psu. Threw in a 270 and I can play rl at 4k :^) that and edit video in Adobe premiere

Nothing wrong with used server grade hardware you doofus. If anything it'll probably last more than consumer grade hardware. If you are lucky some components are unused

No, laptop to laptop.
OP's post is about MacBook Pro
>>55562821
Faked in a way, I put it in standby for 2-3 minutes then scrotted as soon as it woke up.

Here's temps after I just finished playing video game.
>>
>>55562845
Yea no real point mane. Agreed.
What's the point of them? To get a laptop like that you might as well get a $1000 desktop and spend the rest on a laptop.
>>
>>55562853
Yeas but you can't compare new to used.

Used has some great value sometimes, but it's a whole other category.

In general I agree with your sentiment, but I wanted a computer I could use in my bed. I don't really use it as a portable station, it is just a bed station.
>>
>>55563008
>Win 10 Cortana Premium
The fuck does that mean?
>>
>>55563012
Do you play taxing games when you're lying in your bed? Because I've never done that and because of it my bed use device these days is an original Nexus 7 (which I originally got to watch TV shows and movies during the evenings when I was doing my national service here in Finland).
>>
>>55563008
Asus won.
>>
>>55562985
That is still very cool.
>>
>>55562985
Ah, my bad. So what about it, bit worse CPU, much better GPU, smaller NVMe SSD, probably better cooling, much worse battery life and trackpad, cheaper. No idea about keyboard.

It also runs Windows, so yeah.

>>55563008
Now that's damn cheap, although how's the cooling? Besides, many of the downsides listed above.
>>
>>55563030
I don't play many games in general, but I've played Witcher 3, Crysis, the new Doom, etc with no trouble.
>>
>>55563030
>>55563012
This. There is no point of this being a bed machine, it's way too fucking big.
A good desktop and a Thinkpad X1 Carbon would have been very good.
All your gonna do from bed is shitpost, and watch videos.
>>
>>55563041
With those things in mind, it was half the price and that was months ago.

You did not factor in the fact that it has cool LEDs that the MacBooks don't have, and a bigger screen!
>>
>>55563041
>although how's the cooling?
Any cooling system not designed by Applel would be a massive upgrade.
>>
>>55562602
You probably wont find much better, I'll give you that, but you could find the exact same thing for 1/3 of the price. Right down to the screen ( think the new dell xps laptops have better screens actually), processor, ssd, etc. For around $2k~ I'm pretty sure most other laptops will have better video cards as well. Only thing that may be difficult to beat is the battery life, but apple batteries degrade so quickly it hardly even matters, you have a decent batter for like 6 months
>>
>>55563041
>Cheaper
It's less than half the fucking price
>>
>>55563073
>You did not factor in the fact that it has cool LEDs
Well, it's a laptop, so I assumed one would want to take it outside sometimes and not look like a gaymer child.

>and a bigger screen
More of a preference thing, personally I'd be a downside for me. I also ignored the higher weight.

>With those things in mind, it was half the price
Which is great if you care about the pros and don't care about the downsides. Say somebody wants to use OSX, knowing that there is something somehow similar for much less, doesn't help them in any way.

>>55563111
People dropping more than one grand on a laptop rarely give a fuck about couple bucks more. And if they do; they should rethink their initial plan of spending so much. It's bit like buying a premium car, once you reached that point, it doesn't matter whether it's 400k or 800k, you focus on different things.
>>

apple and mac-fags are everything wrong with the tech world
>>
>>55563165
Why would anyone prefer OS X?
>>
>>55563165
So why would anyone settle for overheating throttling facebook machines when they can spend more and get a real workstation like a Precision or Zbook?
>>
>>55563230
Personal preference, software, stability, continuity, they want to develop for iOS/OSX and last but not least, they might be into buttsecks.
>>
>>55562689
And? This isn't a cheap chinkpad or second-hand HP laptop, mate. Used is a good thing here.
