The developer of Pokémon Go, Niantic, Inc., was founded by John Hanke.

John Hanke received his MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley in 1996. Prior to business school, he worked in foreign affairs for the US Government in Washington, DC, and Myanmar.

He previously received funding from the CIA’s venture capital firm In-Q-Tel to develop what eventually became Google Earth.
In-Q-Tel was once described as an “independent strategic investment firm that identifies innovative technology solutions to support the missions of the U.S. Intelligence Community.”

The CIA established In-Q-Tel in 1999 as its venture capital arm to “identify and invest in companies developing cutting-edge information technologies that serve United States national security interests,” according to the firm itself.

Everything said is easily sourced from multiple locations. What do you disagree with?

John Hanke is the founder of Google Earth and Pokemon Go.

John Hanke previously worked for the government.

John Hanke has recieved money from the CIA/In-Q-Tel before.

For a board where people are getting bitched at for using proprietary Wlan-drivers, everyone here seems awfully relaxed about a program which turns thousands of people into literal drones running around, photographing stuff and sending more meta-data to Nintendo than the CIA can dream about.

I heard people already managed to play it from their PC with fake gps.

"We recently discovered that the Pokémon Go account creation process on iOS erroneously requests full access permission for the user's Google account. However, Pokémon Go only accesses basic Google profile information (specifically, your User ID and email address) and no other Google account information is or has been accessed or collected. Once we became aware of this error, we began working on a client-side fix to request permission for only basic Google profile information, in line with the data that we actually access. Google has verified that no other information has been received or accessed by Pokémon Go or Niantic. Google will soon reduce Pokémon Go's permission to only the basic profile data that Pokémon Go needs, and users do not need to take any actions themselves."

why would pokemon go be "supported" by the CIA?
I played it for the last 2 days and found that:
>people are more active,
>they move aorund in random pattern
>they socialize more
>they visit more places and citys

Especally point 2 "they move around in random pattern" is very disadvantage to the CIA and NSA because they want to create movement patterns of very person, when they walk aorund in unfamiliar areas and pattern their whole system just got worthless.

The problem is there is an intellectual elite that dominates government and business. They work the revolving door going from Alphabet Soup to the private sector and back.

Even if you opt of arbitration and even if that data is not explicitly given to Alphabet Soup, the they will have access to it.
