Why does chrome/chromium default to having images displayed with a harsh white background?
Don't they have humans working at Google that realize our eye balls can only handle so much bright white?

why are they not using a transparent background?
They'll probably switch to black once the majority of people start using OLED monitors, since LCD consumes more power to display darker colors and less to display white.
