I have to use Mac OS sometimes at work and their interface is SO FRUSTRATING. How do Macfags even manage?

They take it in to the rear end and love it

I've had this problem. Navigate directory in terminal and use `open .` command

I have to use it at work too. For the life of me I can't figure out how to traverse to the users folder. It stops at desktop.

The unnecessary desktop animations make me think I'm going to start wearing a scarf and sip fair trade coffee

Kek

I honestly just created symlinks to the root directory and my home folder in my Documents folder. I just can't be assed to figure out the interface.

But there are options to add more buttons to the tool bar, and I think one of which allows you to navigate between child and parents. (I'd confirm if I was at work). So it's not so bad, but the fact that it's not enabled by default is stupid as fuck. It's like Mac OS is pretending that the filesystem doesn't exist, and the only locations on your computer are your non-hidden home subfolders.

Thanks bro, I appreciate that. I think I was in those settings a couple days ago because it makes you enable the option to open terminal from this folder. The checkbox was buried ass deep somewhere

By paying $50 or whatever for a 3rd party finder replacement that basically acts like Windows Explorer.

How about no

do people actually do this?

Macfags do

This is wrong. There has to be free Finder replacements, right? I mean there's a fuckton of free file navigators for all other platforms: Windows, Linux, Android...

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Pretty standard for Mac software to cost an arm and a leg, even the shit that's commonly free elsewhere.
