Lets just say I would like to make my own kernel in my spare time, which format should i go with:
Monolithic, Micro, Hybrid or Uni Kernel?
So if you want your Kernel to have potential to be the next Linux, avoid Monolithic or Hybrid. You won't be able to compete.
So I suggest micro or uni.

I love some of the aspects of a Micro and Uni kernel system (faster boot times, self-healing, etc.), but from what I read, it seems as though they only ever could work through VM's.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.
