>any advice for me?
Yeah, don't get a fucking USB powered soldering iron.
>>55489234
they are actually pretty good.
>>55489265
is there a youtube video about comparing the 2?
i guess it would be like a normal 30W soldering iron without temperature control
>Plug soldering iron into laptop USB.
>Buy heat to electricity converter.
>Connect converter to laptop power.
Infinite power.

Keep us posted
>>55489279
bigclive made one, worked fine for small stuff
>30W
that would mean the usb power supply would have to deliver 6A
>>55489190
>USB powered iron
Underage detected
Shut the fuck up and bug a hakko 888
>>55489318
>not using 3.1 to power the stuff
>>55489320
nah
get a cheap 936 hakko clone
>>55489190
get a job poorfag
There is no way in fucking hell USB2.0 can deliver 8W.
>>55489320
>>55489352
Literally get anything but a iron that uses 5v for power.
Like any piece if shit that goes in mains will be better
>>55489190
>5 dollar USB soldering iron
>USB soldering iron
Wow. Are people actually stupid enough to buy that?
>>55489422
You don't need a lot of wattage for something like a pci card that lacks big solder pads. A good cell phone charger should supply enough.
If I had to choose between a shitty mains one and that USB one (both without temperature control) for a job like that. I'd pick the USB one. Because it doesn't put out as much excess heat which will only damage shit and it's much lighter with a finer tip.
since you seem to be focusing on it a lot

Or you could just get a fully working one for a few bucks more
>>55489318
basedclive*
>>55489560
>for a few bucks more
kind of defies the point desu
>>55489583
>spend 2 pounds on broken card and a few bucks on a crappy iron to fix it, which you probably won't manage anyway
>or just getting a fully functional card
>>55489583
you can get those for about the same price
and they have temperature control and are grounded
the size is annoying for longer jobs though
>>55489190
Why do you think you'll be able to fix that card? If the DAC is blown or the DSP is internally shorted what are you going to do?
>>55489822
He will just solder a new card
