If I major in computer hardware engineering am I doomed to be an IT guy like computer science majors?

Even worse; you'll be doomed to the lifecycle of a cheap taiwanese motherboard designer.

can you guess how many bugs are hidden in your sleeve?

You would have been doomed to a life of mediocrity no matter what major you took.

IT jobs tend to be reserved for CIS majors, not CS majors.

CS normally includes lots of math, and the digital circuit parts of EE. Just enough of each to leave them qualified for neither.

CIS si the "how to fix windows" and "dealing with user" classes. Computer Information Systems, look for it in your business college.
