the pbt caps on the pok3r are great, except the letters fade. but for stock keycaps it's better than standard abs trash

>>55463357
it´s really solid for palm grip, really good battery life, 40 hours, was it worth 140$? yes. live in eu so more expensive.
also worth noting, it worked out of the box ion ubuntu with dongle
>>55463405
Yes they do. Sold on Winkeyless (no, those are not the linear ones, but Zealios with a different slider color), I got them right here and they aren't much better than cherry clear. More tactility and more keywobble. It's your choice.

they are bad because of a lot of things, such as the OEM profile, imo too rough texture and horrible lettering (and font). But them being thin is wrong and their redeeming feature

I don't know if this belongs in a /sqt/ but I'm starting to get pains in my fingers from long hours typing on my MX blacks. If I swap out the springs to something lighter, will there be any problems?
Any specific things that I have to look out for when swapping springs?
>>55462809
Autohotkey for æoå by alt=eoa respectively. Use your pinky for enter, it's the easiest thing to get used to. I prefer the ANSI enter, but god damn the ISO layout of almost all other keys is superior.

Possibly Brown, I read that Blues can be too sensitive? Like if you want to write "oo", you may end up with "oooooo". Also read that reds are fine for typing but more targeted for gamers? I do programming for a living and I do some writing (emails, documents, stuff like that). I play occasionally, but only things like Crusader Kings 2, not any shooting game or other online game.

If you have that kind of money to throw around, might as well buy some switch testers instead of guessing which switch you want. Also consider Topre.
>>55464912
Is it like the keycap set? Because it looks like you mixed them up since they are not the same height
>>55462470
>>55463131
no spacebar?
>>55465054
Of course I mixed them. The only way to obtain some SA-Alps keycaps is from really old stuff (canon typewriter in this case) and in case of layouts it was the wild west back then. I have fitting Shift keys, but that's it, the bottom row on the typewriter consisted of a spacebar and 2 1u keys, if I'm not mistaken. So I didn't really have a choice, but to take the SA keycaps for alphas and rest OEM.

Suggestions for a first Mech?
Still saving up for a good computer, but I'd rather get a keyboard for my current one, first.
Budget: $120 or less
Location: Murica!
Switch:
This one I'm shaky on. From an extensive study on the three keyboards at best buy, I liked the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate better than the rest. Clicky, light pressure to type, and all around nice feel.
(Please keep in mind, Ive been a cheap membrane fag for life, so ask anything you need to)
Layout: ANSI all the way
Form Factor: Full preferred, but TKL I'd fine for me.
Backlight: Again, preferred, but not necessary.
>Budget
Trying to stay under $150, definitely no more than $200

Sidewinder X4, I feel like it's time to move on.
I just got my first Filco it was basically exactly what I imagined and I am happy with it. The only serious bonus I give it over the QFR is the case is significantly better. Rather buy a used $80 Filco than a new $80 QFR but I wouldn't pay more than $20 more for a Filco over a QFR no matter what because at that point you can buy better keycaps for the QFR plus it has a detachable cord and the only noticeable downside is the case.

>>55470894
I'm new to this. Can you just explain it? I paid 100 for mine yesterday. I think that's a lot.
>>55470915
100 for a keyboard is pretty standard. HHKBs have topre switches, which you can watch videos on for yourself. They are the main reason, along with other topre boards. Also, it is super compact with a different key layout obv. The $300 one is silenced so it is for an even more select group of people. This board basically has a cult following.
Just go on youtube and watch typing videos with these or other topre
>>55470868
Pride is also shunning a technology because of preconceptions.
>>55470915
Also, I would pay that much for the keys as well as just how minimal it is. It is an aesthetic thing.
>>55470872
Brand name. Type Heaven is $150, cheapest you'll probably get for Topre. Realforce is $200 for PBT caps which are easily $30+ and Japanese labor. That extra $100 for an HHKB is for what exactly?
>>55469242
Ducky Shine 5 with blues
>>55469348
Yes. Though I'm not sure why you'd actually have to ask that question. There's plenty of evidence on the internet of people buying Topre keyboards and ultimately Topre wouldn't have a deal with EK as their NA distributor of there weren't a market for them.
You must be stupid.

Same here. There are no keyboards with matias >200€

With customs these end up costing like 180€, almost twice the retail...
So yeah, under 200 thanks

>brown is bad
>blue is good
This guide is shit, brown a best. Clicky noises will make you want to blow your brains out after a few minutes of typing. I'm not a fan of higher stiffness, either, that just tires your fingers more for no benefit at all and I say that as a decent piano player with strong and flexible hands.
hello /mkg/, tomorrow's my bd, so I'll have some money to spend on a new keyboard.
>Budget ~$60
>Location: Massachusetts, USA
>Preferably Cherry MX whites, but Cherry MX blues are fine too.
>ISO
>80%, TKL
>LEDs optional
>Currently have razer deathstalker

Try not bottoming out
>>55477453
scratch that, I'd like clears.
>>55475581
I don't find a dual sided PCB to be of any benefit. If I could have knocked $10 off the Filco to have a single sided PCB I would have.
>>55477266
many enjoy the click and don't share your autistic compulsions
>>55477453
>>55477509
An ISO 80% keyboard with clears which ships to america for around $60
good luck. you need to double your budget, at least.
>>55477453
You won't be able to find anything at that price. Around 80 USD maybe, but for clears not a chance.
i like reds
How do you guys work with small keyboard. I pretty much use all the keys on my full keyboard. Arrow keys, num pad. home, pg dn, pg up, etc... I find it a hassle to constantly have to push fn to use these keys.
>>55477624
All the keys are on the small keyboards, just on different layers.
>>55477589
>>55477529
Could one of you (or someone else) link me to the cheapest MX clears you can find? Preferably nothing to ridiculous looking?

Is this good, senpai-tachi?
>>55477645
No shit, fn is just shitty to use.
>>55477675
DONT get browns unless you wanna settle for a garbage switch
>>55477882
for you
>>55477624
I actually don't like when I have to raise my hand to reach a button. I'm not using a one with function layers though (at least at the moment).
>>55477882
agreed, I own many different layouts and the smaller ones are just annoying to use full-time
I appreciate the portability and space saving aspect, but if those are important it becomes an annoying meme
man it's a great time to by things from the UK
>>55477945
aren't, even
>>55477967
does it have vintage blacks? where did you get it and for how much
>>55477967

>>55477984
probably has blacks
$32 USD
>>55477705
thanks, friend. I will save
>300 dollaridoos for half the keys meme
Every time I want a good laugh I just visit this general.
>>55478007
where did you buy it from?
>>55478062
ebay
>>55477522
Really? Well, if you dont know how to solder, single sided PCBs are much more likely to have cracked solder points than dual sided. Also, cracked traces are a big occurrence on costar quickfires, specially on qfr stealths and qfrs triggers.
And if you do know how to solder, than there is the "lifted pad" issue.
Model F 107 arrived, had a fucking shock when I tried to pick this thing up out of the box with one hand. Forgot it was made entirely out of metal.
>>55477892
I know they're just a bad compromise switch. Would be better off doing reds if I cared about lightness, or clears for tactile bump
>>55478320
The the official Cherry Ergo Clear rumor true?
>>55477892
This, I got browns and immediately regretted it. I'm waiting for my refund to process so I can buy the keyboard with blues.
