it depends on the application, if its something to no nigger rig something so it "works" ill just browser ebay or banggood. if its something that needs to be pristine (for a client or similar) ill just visit farnell/element14 or adafruit or similar stores near me/my-area. amazon is for schmucks anyway

Molex is just expensive. $83.40 Canadian pesos for this kit. Depending on how common the connectors are it can range from $3 - $15 for a single male, female and the required pins. For online use digikey, farnell or mouser. For some generic stuff use aliexpress.
Electronic component stores are still around but are moving towards microcontrollers rather than components. We don't even carry surface mount, or any 74xx logic anymore.
