I did desu, Like 5 years ago I bought 16 gigs of really cheap ram
My computers ability to run simultaneous programs increased tremendously but other then that I do not really know what good it does (or not) to have that much ram

Even running Google Chrome in the background whilst playing a modern game or running VMs is an advantage that 16GB RAM has. 8GB would struggle with more than 5 tabs plus VMs or Games.
