You can get one of those programs that disable all the obscure telemetry stuff, but I hear microsoft will just re-enable it until you give in, so yeah, don't bother with windows 10 and hope vulkan gets big so you can stick with win7

If you install Anti-Beacon you can choose to have the program check to see that Windows hasn't reverted any of the changes its made. The portable version doesn't allow for this.
I use Anti-Beacon, a modified hosts file, and a firewall, and am relatively at east, but I have no idea how much information is available to Microsoft. It's my understanding that a lot of the "botnet" stuff is overblown, but that Windows is still highly invasive in terms of privacy.

2. install Windows 10 into KVM VM
3. pass through your GPU to the VM

Honestly though, it's the best way, if you only need Win10 for vidya, you'll get 99.95% of the performance, but you can drop back out of it to do anything important.
Just nag devs to use Vulkan instead. W10 only has 300m users or so, they promised over one billion within 2 years to developers and it's not going to happen.
