Hey /g/, I recently purchased an MSI laptop (I travel alot for work so I just said fuck it and bought one). Here is the model/specs:

MSI GS Series GS60 Ghost Pro 4K-238 Gaming Laptop6th Gen Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.6 GHz 16g Memory 1TB HDD 256G SSD GTX 970M 6G GDDR5

The problem right now is it only has good wireless signal when it is in the same room as the router. Even just walking 10 feet away to the kitchen (where other devices are still good) brings it from 5 bars to 1.

I was wondering if any of you all would know if it's my laptop that is the problem or the router.

I have a similar MSI laptop and the Wifi signal is really decent.
Cellar to first floor is still 3-4 bars.

If you live in a flat where there are lots of other people with wifi routers it will get significantly worse and there is very little you can do except using a cable.

You can test this with something like the "wifi analyzer" app or other software.
