>Directx 12 requires Windows 10 to be installed
Are these people for real? Surely this must be a bad joke? I can't be expected to install that piece of trash they dare calling an OS on my computer.
Does this mean I can add another thing on the long list of downgraded programs never to be updated?

DirectX 10 required Windows Vista.

Vista wasn't that bad, it's a meme to call it bad.

Direct3D advancements have always been tied to OS/kernel release. This practice is almost 20 years old.
Go be a newfag on some other board.

Comparing Windows Vista to Windows 10 is like comparing the flu to the bubonic plague.

>What's wrong?
Nothing wrong with the code per se, but everything else about it has gone completely wrong.
>Not supported by Microsoft directly, the Windows port is maintained by Khronos.
>Not supported by Apple at all (no Vulkan on iOS)
>Only supported by Google (who will be maintaining their implementation, and probably end up forking it and rolling their own anways) and Linux (where the sekrit club is split on even supporting the incursion of proprietary games to begin with).
>The primary tentpole "feature" of Vulkan: "One API on multiple platforms" doesn't really exist.
>Developers still have to develop against DirectX, Metal, OpenGL, etc.
In conclusion, due to political externalities, Vulkan is DOA.
