the trick is to either play at smallish resolutions or just not buy into the 84xSSAA 600fps 8K texture mod scene and realize that a game has more worth than its graphic presentation.

Why are /v/ migrants so bitter?
I've never seen anywhere else on the internet that was so whiny about graphics.

Shit, most games barely look different between high and low anymore.
>>
>>55402377
Are you using "/v/ migrant" as an insult here ? How could that be relevent since the thread is obviously about the use of the HH 7970 in video games (maybe also bitcoins idk).

I want to see the best that a game has to offer, wether it be gameplay or graphics.

How am I bitter for wanting the best possible graphics the game as to offer ?

How can you even say such non-sense as
>most games barely look different between high and low anymore.

I went from HD4890 to a HD7970 and I saw the difference when I could dial up those graphics settings
I went from HD7970 to a R9 Fury and the same thing happened.

Well, my R9 280 is supposed to just be a 7950, and it still handles most everything around high at 1080p, and I don't plan on upgrading until it medium becomes a struggle. People are too eager to drop lots of money for only modest gains.

I've noticed that too. Before I built my desktop, I was playing everything on a laptop at low - medium, and the jump to (at the time) ultra was incredible. Going between ultra and high is maybe just a bit of aliasing or slightly fuzzier shading.

most normal people don't really give a fuck and don't throw a tantrum when they have to turn down a setting or miss out on half a pixel of resolution in the event they sit around and ogle their reflection in the water

not really. the 290x used to beat the 780ti when it launched, now the 780ti smokes the 290x and is pretty close to outperforming an OCed 290x (390x).

only problem with these cards seems to be that nvidia overpriced them and didn't include enough vram, but they've been relavent for almost 4 years now.

anyone who uses a card from january 2013 with 3gb of vram for 1440p gaming is an idiot. even the latest and greatest cards struggle to get good performance in 1440p and 4k in some games. the 780ti still has performance on par with a $500 card almost 4 years later.

>>

the problem with relative performance is that one game driving down performance for that card can tank the average, which is probably what happened with the image you posting, since you avoided linking the original review

TPU's relative performance is also unreliable as hell, since not every card is re-tested unless it's also listed in individual benchmarks shown in the review.
>>
>>55405230
yeah there's no reason to upgrade. i finally upgraded to a fairly decent build since my HD 4890 was dying and a core 2 duo wasn't cutting it anymore, but that shit was about 8 years old and could STILL run gta v.

games have been advancing at a crawl since like 2011 and you're retarded to upgrade every 2/3 years.
>>
>>55405277
>the problem with relative performance is that one game driving down performance for that card can tank the average
A single game will barely have an effect on the average.

>>
>>55405277

So you intentionaly dumbed down my point, moved the goal post, talked as if you represent "most people" then finally tried to make me childlish saying I'm throwing tantums in order to better suit your argument which is

>it's perfectly fine to play games at low settings because you have outdated hardware and if you don't do this you must be some kind weirdo

The comparision with audiophile is like your previous posts, totally stupid.
I guess by "audiophile" you refer to people who think they can ear high frequencies and spend thousands in placebo equipment.

Placebo is the keyword here. Buying a $1000 digital cable is placebo.
Buying a R9 Fury going from a HD 7970 to play your favourite game maxed when you could only use the lowest settings with bland textures, low poly models, low draw distance and low framerate is not.

You are the one trying to "rationalize" a not-so-rational behaviour. It's almost like I'm detecting hate in here but I may be going far.

The people that got the value were the ones that bought in early, and got the long term value from it.

The whole point of the 2500k meem is the performance/$ over the life span.

>The RSX 'Reality Synthesizer' is a proprietary graphics processing unit (GPU) codeveloped by Nvidia and Sony for the PlayStation 3 game console. It is a GPU based on the Nvidia 7800GTX graphics processor and, according to Nvidia, is a G70/G71 (previously known as NV47) hybrid architecture with some modifications. The RSX has separate vertex and pixel shader pipelines. The GPU makes use of 256 MB GDDR3 RAM clocked at 650 MHz with an effective transmission rate of 1.4 GHz and up to 224 MB of the 3.2 GHz XDR main memory via the CPU (480 MB max). Although it carries the majority of the graphics processing, the Cell Broadband Engine, the console's CPU, is also used complementarily for some graphics-related computational loads of the console.

Overpriced.

8800gt was better
HD5870 was better
Probably even gtx 460 was better
HD7870 was better
GTX 970 was better

I don't know about now but the 58x0 def stayed relevant longer than cards usually do. I think unless you managed to snag the less popular 2GB 5870 the 1GB of VRAM is way to little now days.

The 8800GT/X and its variants was another card that had a really good shelf life.

First gen Core i7 Nehalem chips are still really nice. If you got one in 2008/2009 that's a long time without needing to upgrade. They even released a six core version on the same socket.

True, a lot of things to consider right now. Vulkan, DX12, etc. I can still cancel it anyway, it's really expensive. Money isn't a problem but I mean it could still be worth waiting it out a couple years.

Nvidia's scaling in DX12 compared to AMDs is absolute shit.

that's not always the case, though it's not much of a surprise considering that their dx11 driver can handle almost twice as many draw calls.

Q6600 @ 3ghz. Dell OEM won't let me over clock without the pad mod so that's as good as itll get.

Using thermal paste with toothpaste :p. Had no paste on hand after doing the pad mood so just improvised.

Nigga I can play on my 7870 oc'ed to 1200mhz almost every game released with a visual fidelity comparable to the one you got when ignorantly maxing settings. Just disable some gimmicky things like hairworks or 8xAA. Damn even a gtx 980ti is capable of running all the games released nowadays smoothly at 4k if you know how to properly tune the settings, don't fall for marketing memes saying that you need two 1080s to run 4k

This is objectively false. The hierarchy at the time of release was unambiguous and went

Titan Black
780ti
290x
Titan
290
780

And now the 290 goes toe-to-toe with the 780ti, where the 290x will cleanly outperform it.

Pretty much every PS3 exclusive that isn't a movie has pretty crummy graphics though

PS3 sold more, and 360 barely sold anything in Japan.
Early on it had >nogames

But exclusives were because of the amount sold and (almost) all Nippon devs going PS3 by defualt
>>

literally like 200k more units or something along those lines. the 360 was by far the most popular global console during the 7th gen. it was the no1 dudebro console.
