-20C temps
i delid for summer & then re-cap for winter to keep it comfy
>mfw i re-capped it last winter using a Coca-Cola bottle cap coz lost original
>>55387799
Didn't we just have this thread a few hours ago?
>>55387799
but where do u put the thermal paste?
i delidded a jar of strawberry jam, does that count?
>>55387917
in your anus
>>55387943
yes
>>55387907
its July; Delidding official month
start of summer & time for us to spread our NEET seeds
Mine is delidded with coollaboratory liquid pro on the die and IHS. Temps -15c from what they were under load. i7 4770k is the CPU.
>>55388302
hahahhaah holy Jesus. absolute madness
>tfw die soldered to IHS
no need to delid
no, because I bought into a platform that doesn't have this defect (X99)
>tfw poorfag with a t410
>>55388319
Just werks. Was a bit scary to do but I used the vice method and it went smoothly.
>>55387799
My 4670k works okay at 4.3ghz 1.4v and 85°C in real world applications. Prime95 in-place fft make it throttle like a bitch but i dont care.
So what's the point of spending 20$ on liquid metal? It is not stable on 4.4ghz %%anymore%% even with linpack or prime95 blend, which run at 88°C.
>>55387799
Stop posting this "... for summer" bait.
>>55389228
Get a better CPU fan.
>>55389276 Zalman cnp10x performa is a bad one?
>>55387799
Sandy bridge master race here.
soldered CPU dye
fucking peasants
>>55387799
why do I feel like all this is going to do is break shit.
>>55390710
Always a risk for that. If you have proper tools and know how to do it, it's hard to actually break modern CPUs.
>>55389228
Why even try hard for a couple of percent?
why in the name of fuck would you put it back on again in winter if it makes no difference to how it operates you fucking retard op?
>>55392710
>907 RPM
>55 C
Stock cooler?
I'm at 30 C at 400 RPM
>>55392833
Don't want it to get too cold, do you? So inconsiderate if you don't let it sit at a comfy temp
>>55392861
Full load for 12 hours straight? That's pretty good.
>>55387799
I did that with my ivy bridge and it helped a lot with temps. I chose to keep the OC up there and just let the thing be cooler.
I don't know how effective it is on the more recent chips, though.
>>55387799
Fuck that. You're better off lapping.
Can't delid something that never had a lid
>>55393921
Lapping is a complete waste of time.
>>55387799
>2011+5
>not watercooling
You deserve this.
>>55396107
Nope.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpD4wmB79hs
Only a waste of time if you balls up doing the lapping. It's still safer than de-lidding the CPU.
>>55393921
>muh 2.5 C
>>55387799
De-lidding makes no sense unless you intend on going through an aggressive overclock and don't give a shit about your CPU.
De-lidding has been going on hardcore overclocking circles since heatspreaders became commonplace.
The only reason that Ivy Bridge cause hightened interested is because Intel-fags were butt-hurt that Ivy Bridge and Haswell didn't overclock as well as their Sandy Bridge predecessors because 22nm and 14nm process is a leaky and toasty SOB when fed volts.
The sup-bar heat paste on post-Sandy Bridge chips didn't help things though. This was fixed with second batch with Haswells a.k.a Devil's Canyon.
>>55396231
I'll take a free 2.5C over de-lidding and potentially killing my CPU, thanks.
>6600k idles at half a degree over ambient
Not sure why Id bother. Granted, it's still at stock.
>>55396206
>q6600
Maybe back in those days, but the heatspreaders are better now and lapping is pretty much pointless.
I de-lidded my 4970k and idle temps went down from 35 degrees to 24, which is pretty damn good. I watercool, so when idling my CPU die always has room temperature.
>>55398673
>heatspreaders are better now
You have no idea what you're fucking talking about. Just stop, it's painful to watch.
