NAS is really just 2x 1TB drives and 2x 4TB drives in a software RAID on my desktop. That will soon be upgraded to either 12TB or 20TB (depending on what I decide to do for RAID) when I get a 12-bay R510 and throw FreeNAS on it.

>>
>>55385909
Not OP but being poor is not the purpose for not using windows.

It could be justified in the lack or contriction of functions and features.

As an employed programmer you are forced to learn that not everything can be put into a click GUI interface. It is sometimes purpose that decides the OS you use.

You might like to learn that and then take that dragon dildo out of your ass.

Yes you are the shitposter, you don't even know why my post was.
And yes, Explorer and Wnodws have the same devs and it's not a community project. You can't change anything with explorer and windows.

And an operating system should be able to make a directory with an arbitrary name. Bye
>>
>>55386261

What if I want to make a file named "null" in /dev/?

And no, Windows and Explorer do not have the same developers. They're both made by Microsoft, but the same physical people did not code both products. It's categorically unfair to blame one project for the shortcomings of the other. That's like calling Fedora a shit distro because of Heartbleed.
>>

nothing prevents you from making a file null in /dev

>>55386331

I bought two $60 2TB seagates off of Amazon a few days ago

One has very slow spinup time
The other has begun randomly dismounting and reporting itself as RAW

Pic is the GSmartControl for each
I should definitely get my money back and not cheap out for the replacements, right?

Pick a tower with a decent amount of 3.5 slots, pick any configuration i3 with a good chunk of ram and fill it with drives and an SAS card.

Install debian or whatever the fuck you want and setup mdadm

Not everything in Boxcryptor is encrypted, that's just how the software works. It makes a virtual "clone" of your cloud folder (whatever service it is that you use) so it can take over the EFS service on Windows.

Yep, I only encourage people to commit suicide over triple-layer deep webnet encryption zone-desyncing. Sometimes it takes hours to link into the meshnet, but once I'm in, I can tell people to kill themselves as much as I'd like. It's like 3rd grade all over again, just with less detention.
