Some used inkjet I bought on eBay for 20% of the highest rated poorfag laserjet that was new on Newegg. Only real need for printing at home is the occasional government document and my CV when I get fired; scanner with large feeder tray is most important.

Cheap brother laser hl-2040 series... Only costs pennies to run. Had it for almost 10 years now.

Canon Pixus 3650.
I've gone through more than half a ream of paper inf three months.
Luckily I found that I can purchase ink refill kits for 100yen per color from the local Daiso. I just had to drill holes in the ink cartridges to fill them up.
Works pretty good and you get about two~three fills per kit.

I got this sweet epson 9-pin dot matrix printer
all I got to do is
$ cat > /dev/usb/lp0
Hp
HP PSC 1209. Bought just over a decade ago, still in service.
Also got a Canon BJC-55 (pic) ... two actually, but one is a parallel model. Pretty cool device. designed to be portable, it can run off battery, and has an IrDA port to print wirelessly. It prints color and has a scanner module you can swap in place of the ink cartridge. Drawback is it's slow and you have to feed it pages one at a time.

Using a Canon MG2150, ink printer with scanner.
Good quality printouts, automatic duplex mode, fast scanner. also has wifi, so you can use it as a network printer.
Drivers are super, you get a ton of configuration options.
