Why does YouTube on consoles use mp4 instead of webm for videos?

Because hardware doesnt have webm decoding so 4k webm videos would be laggy as fuck. Does webm even support 4k?

I understand your point but neither of the consoles support output higher than 1080. This is the native output. It literally can't even output the UI or video in 4k. So.sup.
