finally over 2%. yeey
>>
>>55365044
Good. Being low profile is a great thing. Limited amount of normies. Much fewer exploits. Flying somewhat under the radar. Still a strong community and support, even at 2%.

I don't see anything wrong with this.
>>
2% is fine considering the other 98 is Pajeets and retards
>>
>>55365334
That "I'm smart and everyone is stupid" attitude won't get you far in life son.
>>
>>55365349
Steve Jerbs did pretty good for himself.
>>
>>55365044
Linux won't become popular until they get rid of the terminal
>>
>>55365288
Honestly, 2% was able to develop (for free) tools which beat microshit's billions. Fuck the guys who bitch about too many distros or des, this community is based. One of very few cases where the community collaboration beats jew corporate billions, beautiful.
>>
>>55365415
Why would you want it to become "popular"?
>>
>>55365415
I will take the terminal over popularity, thanks.
>>
>>55365428
More manufacturers supporting it, more programs, more freedom.
>>
>>55365415
Terminal is the best part, I don't know how I could live without it
>>
>>55365456
Popular =/= more freedom. It's the opposite. Once big $$ is involved, the user gets milked for every penny. And every product becomes "copyrighted" or "patented", this impeding the innovation process.
>>
>>55365288
>complains about normies
>ignores that linux is infested to the core with SJWs

Give it a couple years and there'll be a permanent kernel patch that prints text to screen during boot that tells you you're a rapist and all whites should die.
>>
>>55365512
>ignores that linux is infested to the core with SJWs
Do you think about the words that are coming out of your mouth?
>>
>>55365415
What are you talking about? Pretty much every operating system around has a terminal.
>>
>>55365512
If you are referring to firecucks thing, it was the only one. Kill yourself
>>
>>55365512
Linux pales in comparison to the like of Google, for example, who has entire SJW departments dedicated to filtering speech.
>>
>>55365512
>implying sjws can do anything besides Web dev
I've yet to see a sjw or a woman touch anything that resembles a kernel

He means needing to use it to do slightly different-from-normal things.
And he's a little right. The fact that Windows has the control they do doesn't really relate to that, however.
We just need a few more big slipups to pull it off, though, I think.
>>
>>55365555
Let me rephrase, if an os forces you to use a terminal, most people will never use it.
>>
>>55365288
>55365288
This.

The other thing is once it gets mainstream, you'll have to try to idiot-proof it for the whining normies. It never works, and eats up computing horsepower (see WIndoze for a prime example)
>>
>>55365512
>implying Linus "Politically Incorrect" Torvalds would ever let that happen.
>>
>>55365665
When does Loonix force you to use a terminal? Mint and Ubuntu for newbs work just fine without it, though it is a bonus, if someone wants to use it.

Linux is a kernel. Unless Torvalds implements a Desktop environment, there will NEVER be the year of the Linux Desktop.
>>

Men like Linus, Theo, and Stallman cannot be stopped by SJWs. They're too based.

We did it

2% and it still cant stop being shit
>>
>>55365706
It's not a bonus, even if you use ubuntu you'll be forced to use the terminal at some point. Unless you're a granny using firefox and that's it... but most people like to do crazy things like installing drivers for their printer

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
>>
>>55365288
Normies already use android why don't we just contain them over there so they count as users of linux but we keep them out of our linux.
>>
>>55365938
>installing drivers for their printer

I'd wager that 75%+ of Windows users wouldn't know where to even begin. They will end up resorting to Google Search for assistance. Just like anyone can resort to Google Search for assistance with Ubuntu terminal commands.
>>
>>55366040
Yeah, now imagine those same Windows users having to use a terminal for things like drivers, repos, backups, error logs...
>>
>>55366316
>drivers, repos, backups, error logs...
You mean the things that they wouldn't do on Windows either?
>>
>>55365044
post yfw you realize it doesn't count people that run adblock
>>
>>55366343
The things they don't need to do you mean? Yes. You want to install a program? Download it and double click on .exe, no repos or terminal. You have a problem with Windows? Google it and you'll find hundreds of blog posts to solve your exact same problem, or even executables to solve it automatically. Want to do a backup? Use a program like easus backup and forget about it. Life is easier on Windows
>>
>>55366670
Live is pretty easy on Ubuntu as well, it being the largest and most used distro. You are seconds away from all possible answers with the help of Google. There is also an "app" store.
>>
>>55366703
But that doesn't change the fact that is harder to use than windows or osx
>>
>>55365288
Linux is normie as fuck.
The average user is a gamer retard at this point.

All the real neckbeards are on BSD. Linux is just for showing off your anime tiling wm at this point.
>>
>>55366749
In what way, exactly? Take the average tech-illiterate Windows user, whose primary reason for owning a computer is to update their Facebook. What won't they be able to do on Ubuntu?
>>
people are really getting fed up with macroshaft
>>
>>55366781
But, you see, tech-illiterate Windows or OSX users aren't just facebook poster. There are businesses men, mathematicians, musicians, educators, doctors, architects, journalists, writers, photographers...
>>
>>55366961
And most of them would be able to use Ubuntu just fine. I still don't follow.
>>
>>55367078
Well, mathematicians might want to install Matlab without hassles, architects might want to use autocad, photographers use photoshop, musicians use pro tools and so on.
>>
>>55367184
So it's not the "terminal" that is the issue, then, nor is it the ease/difficulty of use of the OS. It's the specific applications than one may need, which may not exist on Linux. We are finally getting to the bottom of this!
>>
>>55365643
What's wrong with his legs?
>>
>>55367206
Not really, as I said Matlab is available on Linux, but is harder to install and execute. Other programs like Sopcast can be pretty tricky to install on Linux as opposed to windows. OpenVPN has a nice ui on windows but can only be used in terminal on Linux. In general everything must be easy to use on Windows because there is no terminal to fiddle with

when i compare, all the hussles & tweaking in the 90-ties, needed to get some kernel 1.3 / 2.o.35 GNU/Linux up & running, on some Pentium1/24 MB ram or on classicAmiga_12oo 68o40/PowerPC_G2 hybridSymetricMultiprocessing; nowDays allmost every localised desktop distros (Mint, simplyMepis, AntiX, ubuntu,...) which i put in multiBoot, during gnuFeministic & cyberFeministic advocacy & activism, to new folk, who look for help inSide & outSide of a hackLab, i can say: -GNU/Linux is easier & less time consuming to install (halfAnHour per distro, compared to a day to patch, protect (fireWall), driverSolve & userLand (apps) equip any winblou$) -GNU/Linux is easier to use -- all the techical details are hidden from common desktop user, & left to root/admin realm...to the point that some desktop distros have their terminal/shell dissabled.. :) (control panels & centers reigns... :) ) -GNU/Linux saves time in general -- my estimate is 80 % after full switch (support) -you are on the legal side -- no cracking -one can recycle way old hw -- Pent2 / 64-256 MB ram with AntiX (exception to above is maybe hw egsotics like Debian GNU/Linux on new dual or Quad c0re Power6 AmigaOne x1ooo or x5ooo/4o 2.4 GHz :) & other non x86 hw like ARM/rasperyPi or the like. ) ...recently, we had an interesting phenomenon with g33ks in hackLab: experienced Slackware, Debian, Gentoo, arch,... powerUsers figured that, staying on a bleedeng rollingRelease tweakingTheLast edge "as-per-se" has no point any more, & that leaving developers, betaTesters, maintainers & packagers job is better to outSource to the people that do that things the best, so they switching to versionin "newbie" distros... :) ...actualy now than ever, it is more a question of psichologycal, sociologycal...maybe culture acceptance; than technical excelence.
