I lost it when I installed CM13 so if that means I'm getting split-screen (a non-broken version, I've tried out the one included with Marshmallow) in CM14 then that's great.
Always had this with my s6, anyway enjoy plebs.
How about a browser with split screen or resizable windows? Smartphones would be competing with umpc.

Galaxy S3 had this feature since forever.
I've had split screen on my Pixel C thanks to early developer N release for several months.
It crashes about half the time.
Split screen is really just a novelty, of questionable value on an OS where you can only have 1 instance of an app running at the same time (e.g. you can't have 2 Word docs open side by side) and in which copy & paste facility is sorely lacking.
The importance of split screen becoming officially supported in Android is standardization. Split screen is only limited to some devices through their own APIs, like Samsung, or by using a custom OS. Most application developers don't bother because it's a hassle to write tons of code for different platforms that only supports some devices. I'm not sure if you can force applications into split screen with other methods but I'm sure the result will often be unwanted.
Being official makes it easier for developers to write and design the applications to support this feature. You will only get its full potential in a few years though. But at least the foundation has been laid.

I had this on my phone since 2012 and I used it once.
Multiwindow on a phone is really not that useful, mostly a gimmick. Id rather see google focusing on making multitasking better so my apps dont reload so often.

yeah, we are already having that effect within Android itself, e.g. Galaxy Note line having splitscreen years ago. so when Apple finally starts making phones big enough to support this feature, then they will get it and everyone will say Apple had it first.
