It's done: rx480 blew the 970 out of the water. Hell, buying a 980 at the moment doesn't make much sense unless you find a very cheap 980ti (prolly used) because of the 1070.

Also how was the hype real? If AMD had hyped it as what it is, a cheaper alternative to the GTX 970 with competitive features (better VR support, better multi-monitor support, better DX12 support, etc) no one would have had any issue. That's a good thing to be. The RX 480 is a good card for what it is. It has nothing to be ashamed of. But nope, AMD had to hype us to the moon and back. "Two of these will beat a GTX 1080 with power, and money, to spare." Fuck you AMD. I actually held back on the first round of non-FE 1070s because I was holding out a little hope that your hype was true. I mean I have a 1070 being shipped to me now because I saw your leaked benchmarks last week, but still, I could've had it already. So fuck you AMD.
But if I ever have a need for a good 1080p card (maybe if I make that livingroom PC I've wanted to make for years now) I'll definitely get an RX 480.
