It breaks most video games and removes black bars on movies that have them, that's about it.

Honestly I don't even understand aspect ratios and why most films are shot in 2:45 or whatever.

Why can't they just maintain the same width but increase the height they shoot movies in for each frame? Then you'd have no black bars on anything.

Had to check my clock and make sure I hadn't traveled back about 10 years or so.

And even if they DON'T support 16:9, who actually gets that upset at black bars, especially in a world of monitors with thick ass bezels? Only thing that bothered me was "hey, that's space the game COULD be using!"

16:9 is shit. I can be more productive on a taller monitor, but I still get the benefits of a 16:9 monitor at the same measurement. It's just the best.

Can confirm. I have a Dell U2415 and I can't imagine getting anything else.
>AWESOME colors
>None of the usual IPS bullshit
>thin and sexy bezels
I struggle to think people seriously buy 1440p and 144Hz monitors before buying something with decent colors.

My only real complaint is that it doesn't accept 16:9 input, so I need to get a second 16:9 monitor so I can play vidya on it in case I get a console. Not sure if I should go for a u2414H or something else that's cheaper desu.

Anybody have a rec that won't break the bank, but still has pretty good colors?

I mean it doesn't add black bars to it last I checked. If you plug in a console, it just stretches the signal.

>>55303547
Monitors don't overclock that far, you can maybe get from 60hz to 75hz

It IS sad to be retarded!
>>
>>55303572
You haven't flipped through the monitor settings to see if it has an aspect ratio setting? I'm sure on a professional artist-grade monitor it HAS to have something like that

That's your first mistake, stop being freetarded. Overclocking LED monitors is piss easy if you know basic electronics, I have a 59Hz cheap acer running at 227Hz and it's been like that for 2 years with no issue.
>>
>>55303499

In context of PC usage, 5:4, 4:3 and 8:5 are the only usable ratios. Also anything larger than 24" is unusable (disclaimer: been using Eizo CG303W for the last five years and hated every second of it).
>>
>>55303749
Well, I just tried overcucking my monitor to 75Hz and it looked like shit. The resolution looked terrible, text was barely readable.
>>
>>55303859
use a coolermaster monitor fan
>>
>>55303825
My main monitor for the last 14 years have been Eizo T960, 1600x1200@120Hz.
But what does that have to do with
>LED monitors,
a marketing term, when used, makes one lose any credibility on techical knowledge related to monitors.
You probably dont understand the fact either that motion blur stays equal on between 60Hz and 144Hz on LCD monitors when using sample & hold.
>>
>>55303632
Yep, absolutely positive from the internet and checking the settings. It accepts 4:3, 5:4, and 16:10 scaling. It's kind of weird.
>>
>>55298165
>tfw so hipster my monitor's ratio isn't even listed
>>
>>55302497
>AWESOME colors
Gamma is fucked, no LUT at all.

>None of the usual IPS bullshit
Strong IPS glow. Blue LED's with white coating in edge arrangment making the backlight: huge spike in blue color, uneven brightness. Possibly lots of backlight bleed, but applies to every LCD monitor on individual basis.
The 'thin' bezels makes subjective black levels pretty bad. There is inner black area, so 'thin' bezelness is nothing but marketing trap.
At least it doesnt have long input lag.
>>
>>55298257
>breaks most games

You sound like a retard that is too poor to afford one

Inb4

My african american friend.

Just buy a LED "TV".
They are piss cheap, 1080p, and big as shit.

That's how you game with consoles anyway.
>>
>>55302497
>>55305425
OR, you can just buy a simple "gamer streaming card", like Avermedia, plug your console in that, and you can just full screen view input.

Thus, use your current display with black bars, zoom, stretch, whatever you prefer.
