Will CD's be the best way to distribute music on a physical media to the end of time? Or as long as physical media is viable.

No.

there are wax cylinders that have lasted 100+ years

If you're talking about distribution, not storage, than physical media hasn't been viable for years now
>>
Over time won't the plastic degrade and make the CD unreadable?
>>

The problem is not plastic but organic dyes, so you can't rely on CDs and normal DVDs for long term storage. M-DISCs and BluRay though has expected average lifetime of about 500 years

Yes,
you cannot beat the fidelity that SACD's offer.
DSD master race.
Otherwise, digital media through hdtracks or something will probably prevail more than cd's.

Maybe not beat, but you can easily match it with any digital medium
>>

what digital medium are you talking about?

The smart thing for bands to do would be Bluray, they make more songs ~50 or so would be good, and include studio footage, interviews, and concert footage. All of this included at the current $20 price point would make sense.

As it stands charging that much for a 12 song long cd that is effectively just rehashing their same old shit is stupid and the reason no one buys cd's anymore

Sounds like you need to get better taste in music.

Bluray is a pain in the ass to rip.
Also,
>paying for music
Once you have bought so many songs, I think piracy is justified

Obviously not.
Future storage tech will be very different from today's optical storage mediums. Hell, we're beginning to encode data into DNA chains. We might have bio-electrical playback devices in the far future capable of playing back multi-exabyte storage pellets/vials/blocks/whatever for music.
Or quantum entanglement may mean that your devices "lock" to whatever media you want wherever it is, for playback. Your quantum blank just locks states with the "master" copy of an album somewhere after paying, and it's literally like your devices are playing back the original recording.
Sci-Fi becomes reality over time. Naturally, not all Sci-Fi, and not always in our life-times/soon, but it happens.
