Oh boy how can someone be so delusional. As someone who saw the rise and fall of Nokia from inside we did so much wrong it's not even funny. The only reason Nokia did so well was because our hardware was the shit and before smart phones became a thing having mediocre software didn't matter as much.
Management by perkele and yes men allowed the company to stay stagnant and stop innovating. The amount of useless middle management rose significantly during the glory years. Software was seen as something insignificant and the management though Nokia was too big to fall.
Nokia has been purged heavily and bought the network side of Alcatel-Lucent which made them a major player on the network side. They'll transition to become a big player on the network side of things like Ericsson while hopefully staying away from handset manufacturing. Nokia will stop being a household name outside Finland but it's not going anywhere.
Luckily it's not something I have to worry about anymore since I'm elsewhere now.

They started to fuck up around 2005-2006. I remember when I got my N70 that shit was slow as fuck, plus it was S60v2 so no apps because everything was S60v3. But even then, they had great hardware and a lot of apps. Then Belle came up and everything went to shit.
Windows Phones kinda saved them but Microsoft is a US company and majorly ignored the European market. Had they bet on the European market and then would be relevant today. I still use a Nokia, though.

I have an N95 and E5 and use the N95 as a backup phone. The N5 was absolutely awesome and extremely durable. I only switched and got an S2, and then an S3, S4, and Note 4, just because of how many people were telling me to get a smartphone and I was sick of it. If Nokia had an android smartphone I would have been all over it. I've never had a single hardware problem with Nokia, not a single one.
