I'm just seeing numbers there.

there is nothing. The AMD shills won't have it, they've been peddling this snake oil for the last few weeks, they don't want anything to spoil this serene picture of a 200$ card beating 980ti and 1070

Oof. I was waiting for this card. Should I just wait for an extra pay check in a couple weeks and get the 1070 instead? Hopefully by then there will be stocks of the card available for order.

>a 200$ card beating 980ti and 1070
Nice moving of goal posts, but people have been talking about the reference 8GB model being within spitting distance of the reference 980. First time I've heard talk of actually beating the 1070 (not just coming within spitting distance with overclocked non-reference cards) is from n/v/idiots claiming that amdrones have been saying this.

Seriously thou, let's see how the overclocked reference cards (which is what we're looking at here) actually perform and then how the non-reference ones stack up against that.

I want to spend no more than 300$ for a gpu and I'm on the fence here. Should the 480 perform better than a 970 then I guess it would be a solid choice, but there is no information when the non-reference versions will appear.

waitfagging is an ordeal

From what I can tell, it turned out pretty much exactly as AMD said it would.

Its a 390x, 980 and comparison was an overreach unless we see custom cards that OC well.
>>
>>55269234
Whats to wonder about, the curve is set really high in the bios so the card probably has a high thermal limit like the 94C on the 290.

This video was recorded during presentation of AMD Radeon RX 480 running in CrossFire by the Thai retailer. The beginning of the video shows GPU-Z information, then we move to 3DMark, which unfortunately fails to start at first.

2:30 — Showcase of Radeon WattMan overclocking tool
4:00 — Start of 3DMark test
4:50 — 3DMark crashes
5:50 — 3DMark File integrity check
7:00 — Force close of 3DMark
10:40 — Start of 3DMark again
11:04 — Start of Fire Strike DEMO
14:40 — Start of Fire Strike BENCHMARK

Ive read that throwing two 480's together in crossfire gives you performance of a gtx1080. Considering a 1070 is like 380 bux, wouldn't 1080 performance for roughly 400 dollars be fantastic?

True it's just the 3dmark shit we've seen. Once real world benchmarks come out though, if it is close, why wouldn't anyone do that instead? Power consumption and heat maybe? Shit drivers?

The 1070 is not the 1080. It's been getting stock frequently, it just sells out quickly. https://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/nvidia/gtx1070/full_history.php
It's not great, but Nvidia's store has had the FE cards in stock for a while. The 1080 production is being bottlenecked by the GDDR5X memory, the 1070 uses regular GDDR5 so it's stock has been better.
>>
>>55269287
If you're willing to fall for the FE meme, that's in stock at Nvidia's store. It's not nearly as stupid as buying an FE 1080 because at least on the 1070, all the aftermarket cards are around $450 anyways and this card runs cool enough that the reference card only performs very slightly worse than non reference cards, like literally 5 fps difference.
>>
>>55272069
>Is that really that bad for 200 USD?
No, it's just not what autists hyped it up to be. Worst case scenario is the RX 480 is slightly above GTX 970, and Nvidia's direct competitor to the RX 480 comes out several months later and outperforms it for a bit more money.
>>
AMD and Nvidia are always slightly on par with each other. AMD always sits slightly behind Nvidia in terms of performance and cost. As soon as the 1060 is out it will outperform the 480 marginally for a little more cash. The AMD brings out another card (The 490) that beats the 1080 for less. Then Nvidia comes out with a 1080Ti and beats it again then lowers the cost of the 1080 to compete with the 490.

Round and round it goes...

Captcha = square achat
>>
AMD can't even put out a competitive offering as per usual. Guess I'll just get a FE 1080 before the excessive demand drives the price up even further.
>>
>>55272667
traditionally the x60 nivida series have been 250 at release. and about 200 3 months after.
if nvidia releases the 1060 at 200 bucks. it will really fucking dominate.

It's rumored that there will be a 1060 and a 1060 ti, so a $200 1060 and a more expensive 1060 ti would make sense. Whether those will be a good deal depends on the performance, which we know nothing about.
>>
>>55272498

We already know the 1060 will have a 192bit bus and 6GB Max so there's no way it will provide value in the $250 price range

>hyping every day, every hour for a GPU which will provide no advances in graphical fidelity at all

>>55272930
>there will be a 1060 and a 1060 ti
I don't know anon, if the RX 480 delivers GTX 970 performance in DX11 and GTX 980 performance in DX12/Vulkan, then AMD may have thrown a wrench in Nvidia's plans. The RX 480 will single handedly make the GTX 960 worthless.

My bet is that Nvidia will make a single GTX 1060 for $220 and perhaps disable SLI. Then they'll make a GTX 1080 Ti and enable 4-way SLI.
