Rant time, /g/.

>using Mac
>plug SD card into laptop to make a slideshow of my trip photos
>popup tells me to use Photos because it just works :^)
>figure fuck it, why not try
>takes 10 fucking minutes to import 4,000 .jpg files
>create slideshow and start dragging in photos
>halfway through, check slideshow, see that the program scrambled all my photos up
>unable to sort them
>can't convert to any form of sortable album
>program gives me no freedom whatsoever to even know where my files are stored or how the data abstractions work
>no idea where my files are, iCloud probably has them
>meme features like face recognition don't even work

How the fuck do normies even use programs like this? Do they just sigh and say "eh, fuck it" when their machine decides to randomly scrabble their photos without warning and not let them fix it?

Jesus Christ, this software is shit.

The face recognition is racist.
I was trying to categorize my porn. It partially worked until japanese women confused it. After that it just wouldn't recognize faces anymore.

most photo import programs just arent good for some reason

i started photography last novemember and found out how slow lightroom is at importing photos even though i have my sd card on a usb 3.0 adapter

if i move a folder of photos its also a son of a bitch trying to relocate import it later

It's basically one of those programs for people who don't know how to manage a file system and are essentially the same people Apple decided to lock the file system on iOS for. I hate it too when it pops up whenever I try to copy over pictures that I've taken on my DSLR, but I always try to remember that the only OS that wasn't also designed to be used by technically illiterate people (and is still being used) is Linux.

Fucking tell me about it

>Plug in SD card from camera to move some pictures onto my external hard drive
>Photos instantly pops up and tries to import everything
>No idea where everything is
>Every shitty photo I planned on deleting is there

I love my mac but half of apples programs are so fucking horrible. Don't even get me started on fucking itunes

I hate iPhoto, but I actually like iTunes. The only real complaint I have about it is that when you try to modify the metadata it only changes the metadata for iTunes and doesn't actually do anything about the metadata on the files.

>I actually like iTunes
How? It's just a pile of bloat.

iTunes seriously drives me crazy. Why does it delete everything off my phone if I try to sync it from both my (windows) desktop and my macbook? Why did it feel the need to open and automatically start this process every time I wanted to charge my phone? (eventually found the option to stop this from happening, but still annoying). Why is it some horrible hybrid of a bunch of programs that should all be independent of each other? Why is it that every update they do makes the interface worse and worse

The worst part about having an iPhone is iTunes. Thankfully I can completely avoid it now. All I want to do is have the ability to put music on my phone from my desktop (or even my external hard drive, which its completely incapable of doing. If I wanted to do that iTunes would need to import all of my music into its own "library". And if I went to sync it without having my hard drive plugged in? Bye bye music.) and be able to back my phone up on my macbook. But apparently this is way too much to ask

The one major flaw with Mac OS is that there is literally no freedom in which programs you can use for some tasks

Therefore install gentoo

What happens if you delete Photos.app?

Found your problem.

Well, it gets deleted. Fair warning: it will come back with some OS updates. Then just delete it again!
